Suddenly problem showed, idle at 1000 rpm (know that normal is 600), traction off light, loss of power, stopped running after few mins. NO Check engine light came on!!!
You should take it to a ASE certified repair shop that has the diagnostic equipment to check it out , an I don't mean a code reader . I mean a factory scan tool that can look at engine sensor data PID'S ! It Just stopped running ? Will it start right up again or is it dead . Check for spark , that means pulling the Ignition Coil Housing an using special tool
J 36012-A , there just plug wires . Install a J 26792 Spark Tester on #1 spark plug jumper wire. Connect the #4 jumper wire to a good ground. Connect the other jumper wires from the 2-3 ignition coil to the respective cylinders,Connect the J 43298 Igniton Module Tester to the ICM.
Do a fuel pressure test ! With the Factory scan tool check the idle air control valve counts , an see if it can be controlled . 220 K miles , ever have timing chain replaced ?
Revers Lights wont come on when car is in reverse
Back up light switch is located on the rear of the transmission, easier to find if the LF is jacked up and wheel is removed. My switch was working fine out of the transmission, but was about a !/32nd of an inch short of closing when in reverse.
The way I determined that was by using a depth gauge between neutral and reverse, is a pawl inside of the transmission that goes rearward, and by comparing the decreased depth with the contact closure of the switch, was about 0.30" too short of closing, used an ohmmeter to determine when the switch was closing.
Now maybe by finding a switch at the dealers that closes with 0.030" less movement would solve that problem or trying to get more backward movement on that pawl. Now that would be a job to disassemble the transmission and bending that pawl backwards a tad. So I just put that switch in my machine lath and took off about 0.060" off the shoulder so it could be screwed in further. It's been working fine every since. I could barely get my baby finger in that switch hole to check for free play, was pretty tight. Just an engineering goof in my opinion, not allowing enough tolerance for switch closure variations. The plunger of the switch still had a good 1/8th " of movement after the contacts closed.
Key won't turn, won't shift from Park
My 2003 Saturn l200 2.2 ecotec did this when the battery was dead. Put some juice on the battery, then the car came out of park, and I was able to remove the key. To the car, there's a vast difference between a sluggish battery and a dead battery. It may have enough amps to crank it, but it wont start w/out full output from the battery.
