Just a thought...if you just replaced a booster, you may have forgotten the brake switch or not connected it completely.

try to artificially enrichen it while cranking to see if it starts...if it does, look for fuel issue

you must put this back in same exact place it will through a code, dont remove old distributer untill you set crank to tdc and mark the dist where it pulls out.that way you can make sure to put back same spot,if throughs a check engine light you will have to do it again.

96 to 99.. Vortec,,,, or any 350 short block,,, use you vortec heads

1999 Chevrolet... | Answered on Feb 02, 2015

I believe in 97 they started the vortec 350 and they ran until 2001 not real sure but any salvage yard will know what years will fit. there are also different engine codes I think they are W and Z that will make alot of difference in the computer.

check oil pressure sending unit

It is not that easy. There are a lot of things that can keep a modern vehicle from starting. Check the neutral switch, the crank sensor, the fuel pump, the fuses, the temp sensor etc. You should see if you can get a scan tool to check the codes. That would narrow down the list of possibilities.

Loretta,, Occasionally, a spark plug is "bad" right out of the box. But a single new plug and install it in the #1 cylinder. Also, on a 15 year old vehicle, it is likely that the spark plug wire wa damaged removing it in order to replace the plug. Good Luck.

Have you replaced the heater core? If not, most likely the reason the previous owner bypassed the heater core was because it leaked. I will be happy to send you photos of how the hoses attach but I will need your email address.

Have you checked fuel pressure ?

1999 Chevrolet... | Answered on Dec 22, 2014

no it will not cause a misfire it just will not start

1999 Chevrolet... | Answered on Dec 12, 2014

And I hope you replaced the filter too, :)

Off hand I would ask if any trouble codes popped up like multi-Misfire
or engine code's of P0300- P0308, "no spake at plugs or a misfire at plugs.?" You might need a ignition control modular, "MIGHT" for some reason there's usually not a code for the ICM but you would get misfires since you lose spark to the plugs..

if your ignition control modular is inside the distributor cap and you decide to have it checked auto part stores can check it out of the truck, BUT I would add a new on IF your getting codes of P0300-308 since they run hot, and if you do replace it get the heat sink grease for the bottom of it to help keep it cool, They get Really hot..

Just my thought.
