My 1997 Monte carlo is still overheating after we changed the thermostat and water pump what othernproblem is causing it to overheat
Car must use red coolant or yellow generic designed for newer than 1995 vehicles. Why you wonder - Red is designed for 272 Degees of total fluid heat and since newer vehicles are Aluminum Motors / Cylinder heads it is required to have a Red / Yellow anti - freeze coolant mix to carry - transfer heat out to radiator to be cooled by wind or Temp sensor turning on radiator fans . The older Green coolant is only good to 230 degrees before boiling over . This green in older engines worked because Iron / Steel engine blocks - cylinder heads Absorbed Large amounts of Heat . 1995 and Newer Aluminum does not absorb heat and will Warp Block - Heads if not kept cool ergo milky looking Oil - Coolant . Be sure to get cocentration to 50% REd or Yellow Coolant to - 50%% Water , this also helps fight heat and will give you good winter proction at cold temps.

Manual Solution for 1998 Monte Carlo z34:
Pull down interior design near button, it's all velcro underneath. The motor is silver and on the bottom of it, there is a white colored knob, that has a slot for a screwdriver. I believe to close it is counterclockwise. For this you will need VERY small screwdriver, and requires much force with a small one.
I poked a hole through the interior, and used a longer screwdriver. More torque and less pain on hands. Poking a hole sounds weird, but to be honest, it won't be noticed much.
My car is still overheating
Add cooling fluid to the radiator, this will raise the boiling point of the water preventing boil out. Meaning your engine will receive enough water to cool down. Also check the radiator for leaks. The next step is to check the water pump. Also ensure that your engine has enough engine oil, as this also reduces heat.Take care!damnor01
97 Monte Carlo and the breaks sound like just air
check the brake fluid level, this is under the hood near the back wall by the drivers side. brakes are serious problem and should go to shop, they probably need the brake bled, this is where all the air is pushed out of the lines, sometimes you can get lucky and pump the brake pedal ( push down and release the brake pedal) over and over again and see if they tighten uphope this helps
Water in oil
Probably.Coolant leaking into the crankcase is usually by way of a failed intake or head gasket.
