Have the fuel pressure tested. Low or inconsistent fuel pressure affects combustion and the computer may detect a misfire. This should be cheap than having a part replaced. Another is the ground wires. Have them inspected. The ground wires run from the engine to the car's body. With the car's age it may be corroded or worn out. You may want to replace them.
How fix an odometer gauge 1997 Chevy astro van
you do not fix it, you buy another instrument cluster from a junkyard or eBay, then you swap them.
the car will not be worth another dollar with a working odometer, i would just put up with it as a sign of an aging, but otherwise still useful, vehicle.
High consuption fuel
try unhooking the battery over nite and hook it back in morning.
that will dump the memory on the computer and it will have to relearn the way you drive.
don't try to drive to fast the first 150 miles. so don't floor it till it learns.
Do I have to replace
To buy it aftermarket yes you'll need the entire multi-function switch. However that year had a recall for just the hazard button in the switch, and can be purchased separately at a GM dealership. They lock in at the sides, remove upper steering wheel cover (hint you may want to remove the horn fuse or relay first, it can be activated while installing), use a very small slotted screwdriver and lightly pry the sides outwards. Pull the hazard button straight up. Apply lube to new button, and push down into groove until it locks. Reassemble the cover and horn fuse.

Slide door doesnt open from ouside
If the latch works but the door seems to be jammed, take a look at the bottom rear corner of the door. do you have the factory cladding and/or running boards on the van? If so, the bottom rear corner of the door is likely to be hitting the cladding where it wraps around into the bottom of the opening. Go inside the van and with a helper on the outside pulling the door open, push against the door to open it. Next, look at the cladding where it wraps around into the door opening. You will probably see where there is some wear to the paint, but not necessarily. What you need to do is ease the cladding towards the rear of the vehicle. Think of it as sliding it backwards along the body. it doesn't take much, only about a millimeter or two. I used a screwdriver against the cladding where it interfered, and nudged it with the BFH. It worked beautifully for about 6 months, at which time I just did it again.
Cold air from heater
low anti freeze, bad blendoor actuator, or a plugged heater core. or your water pump may not have sufficient flow
I have a 2003 chev.
The first thing to do is verify spark and fuel. Pull a spark plug wire. doesn't matter which one. Insert a phillips head screwdriver into the spark plug wire so that it is in contact with the metal clip that fits over the spark plug. Hold the screwdriver by the handle, make sure it has a plastic or rubber handle, be careful not to touch the metal blade. Hold the screwdriver close to a metal engine part, such as the block or exhaust manifold. Have a helper crank the starter while you observe the screwdriver. If the spark plug is getting fire there will be a substantial spark jump between the screwdriver and the engine. Now, pull the spark plug that the wire was attached to. If it is getting fuel, it should be wet with gasoline. I know this is elementary stuff, but it is necessary for me to know exactly what the circumstances are at this point. After you have performed the tests, send me a reply stating the results. I will get back with you as soon as I can.
