1993 chevy k1500 transmission problem
Do you mean start the car in drive? if so that problem is inhibitor switch. Other shift problems can be caused by TPS (throttle posistion sensor) if applicable
I have a 1994 chevy k1500 preignition knock
open the intake manifold by removing the air cleaner and or hose look on the back side of the plate to see if there is varnish and gum if there is you need to do a top engine clean, You must understand that running that kind of gas will cause varnish and carbon buildup on the pistons and valves. This causes the knock sensor to not to be able to adjust for compression change. It can only advance the timing 50% once the carbon build up is to much it will start knocking. If you want to receive instructions on how to fix this then rate me post a comment and I will give you the two page answer on how to do this. Unless you want to keep buying parts. your choice. I will no longer post it here as I see some think they can just take my answers and copy them.
1988 k1500 backfires and almost dies when warmed up and on highway when giving more gas
Usually when you get a backfire thru the intake the problem is timing or a lean fuel mixture. If you are sure the ignition system is in good condition, I would have the fuel pressure tested. You could also have a vac leak that is random, or a problem with the throttle position sensor. But if the sensor has failed you should get a trouble code and check engine light.
Break light on dash
Depending on which light, could be low brake fluid, or the parking brake switch, or other problem in the hydraulic system.
Wont turn over
If it cranks it turns over.If it won't start, you'll have to figure out if it is fuel or ignition related to continue.Check the injectors for fuel spray (TBI) and the plugs for spark.Did you check the computer for trouble codes ?
