By "throttle body carb" I am assuming you to mean that the engine is equipped with Throttle Body Injection (TBI). The O2 sensors on that engine do not even start working for about 5 minutes. They are not going to cause a problem on start-up. A fuel filter will most likely not cause a problem on start-up or idle either. A fuel filter is most likely to cause problems on acceleration or when pulling a hill. A more likely cause would be a n Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. If one of these is reading too low, it will cause the engine to flood and smoke black out the exhaust - especially on start-up. (LIke a choke sticking on an old carbureted engine.) If your truck is equipped with a gauge, there may be 2 Coolant sensors. One for the gauge and one for the computer. If you replace it, make sure you are replacing the sensor for the computer.

well you might have got water in to the transmishen fluied and this could make rust or just will not lubricat prouperly and the metel on metel makes hard to shift water may have got in threw a vent

I see that you've checked the battery but really still just sounds like loose or corroded terminals

Well, it takes a puller to pull the front pulley off. Often you have to pull the rad and any shrouds for enough room to use a puller.

definately something to worry about:
torque converter, trans filter, U-joint(s), or your rear gears r going out

could be your EGR (emissions guide relay),spark plugs and wires,
bad connection(loose wires) on fuel pump
vacuum line
or simply your fuel filter

4 wheel drive solonoid is not kicking in your front diff.

Brake light switch mounted near the steering column up by the brake pedal pivot. Two or more wires depending on whether Cruise control is present.

Remove the cap and the rotor. Look at the under side of the rotor where the shaft goes into it--if there is a white spot, it indicates an internal short from top to bottom of the rotor. Replace the rotor. Hope this helps!

Did you check to see what was inside th eold fuel filter? I ask because If your tank has water and or rust or trash of sufficient quanity it may already be clogging the new filter. The only other thing I think of is the automatic choke may be sticking causing the fuel mixture to be to rich.

That location is correct but gm also put them underneath the engine just forward and up from the oil filter.....

Yes those are the next step, especially the coil.

Does the vehicle still have 4 wheel drive... or is it just the light that isn't working. I don't mean to insult you, I'm just asking if that's the case. You may just have a burnt out light. Most of these lever shift transfer cases are pretty straight forward, they either work, or they're so busted up inside that they make terrible noise.

Check altenator voltage output ,if its over 15 volts it will cause things to go wrong

Have you checked the starter? You can easily rule out the battery as the root cause by removing it and taking it to most any parts store ie autozone, advanced auto, ect. If the battery is good and the lights on the dash light up upon turning the key to the on position, more likely than not the starter is to blame.

I would recommend a used instrument cluster if you know of any junkyards around your area. Otherwise check Ebay or elsewhere on line for one.

If you have a electric distributor there will be a spark module in side of it. you need to change that. it comes with silicon that must be put on the bottom of it before you put it on. Also I would make sure that your timing is OK. Pull your #1 plug wire off and put your finger over the hole and turn it over, just bump it in tell the piston comes up. you will feel air on your finger. bring that piston all the way to the top. I use a long screwdriver(turn the engine by hand) then check and see if the marks on the timing cover line up. If it does than change that module.
