I replaced the fuel pump in my 1999 chev malibu. Started fine and test drive was great. Went to start it today but won't start. Engine tries to turn over but won't. Any ideas what may be wrong

IF the engine tries to turn over but doesn't then the problem will be related to a flat battery. have a load test done to check for bad cell. battery life is unpredictable and will allow proper performance at one point but total failure a short time later.. Cold weather is a big killer of poor performing batteries

Car wont start checked ciols and changed plug not helping

If possible, have somebody pull the codes on it with an OBDII scanner. That should give you an idea about what may be causing the problem. I would look for possible issues with a crank sensor.

Remove female seat belt recepticle

Due to Federal Safety regulations, the normal way for this belt to be secured to the car is by a big bolt which is fastened to the body of the car with a nut that cannot be removed. Often, the anchoring bolt is underneath the carpet, and may require quite a bit of the interior of the car on that side to be removed to gain access. If you have a junk yard/salvage yard nearby, go there and find out what to do, because cars there should have some seats removed. Be blessed.

No heat

Assuming that you have the proper amount of coolent added, check where your heater hoses connect to the engine block for rust and corrossion, this is a common area to clog up, preventing coolent flow from circulating through your heater core. If ok, check for a thermostat that is stuck open.

Serpentine belt 1999 chevy malibu is slipping off cranshaft pulley

Make sure that the belt is fully seated in ALL pulleys, if it still slips off, then you have a pully that is bent, or out of alignment.

Gas guage no longer works when below half a tank.

You are probably looking at dropping the fuel tank down and removing the float and sending unit ( all in one unit). Once it's taken apart, you may see that you can fix it or you may have to replace it.

1999 Chevy Malibu driver side tail light won't come on.

I would say that the tail lamp isn't plugged in but- if it is follow the wiring from the tail lamp forward there must be a break in the wiring -maybe someone cut the wires to patch in towing lights - cheers Denny

The anti theft system was preventing my 1999 Chevy Malibu from starting. Once i waited 15 minutes the light would go out and the car would start. Eventually though the car became very very difficult

Well How good are you at Resistors?? Get an Ohm meter and check the ohm's on your key, Next go to radio shack and buy a few Resistors that are the same Ohms and climb under the steering wheel.. You should see 2 Small thin wires Coming from the column, WARNING, There is a Second Yellow Wire With a Sticker on it Saying Air Bag, Don't touch... When you fine the 2 small wires the DO NOT SAY AIRBAG Disconnect the plug and Add you Resistors to that plug leading away from the column,. When you put key in the Light should go right out if the Ohms are correct... Not to mention you can now buy keys without chips for that car too... Good luck. AND stay AWAY from the Air bag, I would tell you have a Pro look at..
