77 el camino leaks from passenger side behind

Hello there:
This leakage that youare seeing is coming from the heater core which means that you will need to remove the heater core and get a new one
The best way to do this is to Mark and disconnect the 2 hoses that are going thru the firewall to whick pipe they attach to on the heater core then remove the 6 or 8 nuts or bolts that hold it into place then you will find that the box that the heater core is sitting in may have some nuts and bolts on it to so remove them next the box itself needs to be seperated at the seam to assist in the removal of the heater core so cut along the seam with a very sharp knife or a utility knife and then remove the old heater core and install the new one then put everything back and dont forget to reseal the box otherwise you wont get much heat flow from the core de to air getting inside of the box ok then make sure you put sealant on the bolts where they go thru the fire wall and tighten it down firmly then reattach the hoses and you are done
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

I have a 1978 el camino with a 305 engine and a

Is the oil level full? If the trans oil is low enough it will prevent the car from moving or engaging gears. If you have to fill it up then pull your gear selector through each gear including 2 and 1, waiting at each spot for a few seconds. Do this twice and check the oil level again. Top up if necessary.

Can you wiggle the shifter at D and get the trans to engage. If so the shifter linkage is too loose and will need to be tightened up, possibly by adjusting but also may need to incliude replacing bushings and spacers.

Have you done any work to the trans lately? It's possible something wasn't hooked up properly so crawl under there and double check everything again. Years ago, I owned a service station and I had a guy bring in a car with your symptoms. He had changed the trans and thought he had a bad one. He paid me for 2 hours labor because he forgot to put the torque convertor bolts back in so double check carefully.

If none of this works you likely have a bad pump inside it and the trans will need to be replaced or rebuilt. If this is the case you might want to look at a 700R4. It will give you an extra gear with a little work They work off a vacuum/electric switch mounted on the firewall. Pick it up in a scrap yard.

It's not likely that a fluid and filter change will do any good now. It would give you an idea of what might be wrong inside but that's about all. Hope this helps.

I need a diagram showing

  • Hi, I can help.

  • The diagram below shows what the pivot bolt looks like. Which ever part the pivot bolt is on you want to loosen it and wedge that part out to give good tension to the belt. You have to remove the outer belts to get to the inner belts thus to replace the inner belts must go on first.

  • Now an exact diagram I don't have but I can tell you how the belts are put on. As you face the engine under the hood the inner belt goes to the pulleys to the right of the crank pulley(including the crank pulley. And the outer belt goes on all pulleys to the left of the crankshaft pulley (including the crank shaft pulley)

  • Weather the inside belt or the outside belt the belt goes around (on the outside) of all pulleys. Follow me? Each belt will have bolts that is loosened up and that part leans away from the engine to give tension to each respective belt. OK here are your bolt adjustments.

  • Alternator adjusting bolts.

  • AC adjustment bolts.

  • Air Pump adjustment bolts.

  • Please note that if your car has only one belt, then the belt runs around the outside of all the pulleys and the adjustments would be done the same way.\

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here and I will respond to you.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Turbo 400 transmision only goes in gear for i

First thing to do is check your fluid level, which must be done with the engine running. If the level is low, fill to correct level and try again. If fluid level is ok, I suggest changing the trans filter. If that doesn't help, I suggest changing the transmission, or getting it rebuilt.
