1998 suburban security light
This may be related to the antitheft system The system is known for turning off the starter and/or injectors when it fails. Normally when the injectors are turned off, the car will run for a second or two, and then stall. Is there a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a picture of a car with a lock through it? This is a common problem worth looking into. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/

High beams do not work
I had this issue as well. My headlights did work but the high beams didn't. I replaced the high low beam switch under the dash bolted to the steering column. Go to rockauto.com and it'll be under your vehicle under electrical switches. The switch heats up and gets stuck in high or low. Common problem. Good luck!

My vehicle starts but when I step on the gas it dies.
After it starts does it idle good before you step on the gas , will it keep idling before you step on the gas ? Is the check engine light on ? What engine does the vehicle have ? This vehicle came with 5.0 L ,5.7L ,6.5 L , 7.4 L engines ,gas or diesel ?
Three specific data sensors provide the vehicle control module (VCM) with the basic information for the fuel management portion of its operation. Three specific signals to the VCM establish the engine speed and air density factors. The engine speed signal comes from the distributor high resolution circuit. The VCM uses this information to determine engine speed (RPM). Air density is derived from intake air temperature (IAT) and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor inputs. The IAT sensor measures the air temperature that is entering the engine. The IAT signal works in conjunction with the MAP sensor to determine air density. As the intake manifold pressure increases, the air density in the intake manifold also increases and additional fuel is required. This information from the IAT and MAP sensors is used by the VCM to control injector pulse width. One of these sensors could be bad or a plugged catalytic converter .

How do I change the inside headlamps on my 1998 Suburban?
It depends, if you have sealed beam headlamps, there should be a frame around headlamp, remove it.
If composite headlamps, there are two hex headed pins in top radiator support, remove those pins. Take out lamp assembly so you can get at bulbs.Don't touch new bulbs with bare hands.

How do I replace the high/low beam switch in my 98 Suburban?
The switch is bolted to the left side of the steering column under the dash. Make sure you have good lighting look under and pull the leaver as you would to turn high beams on. The switch is connected by a metal rod that runs up the steering column. You'll see it moving. Use the proper tool to remove the two bolts that bolt the swith to the column. Unplug the wire harness and angle the switch and it will release from the metal rod. Do not bend the rod! Be safe don't do this with your legs sticking out into traffic. Reverse the steps to reinstall. Good luck
