1998 GMC Suburban - Page 4 Questions & Answers
My 1998 gmc suburbans driver
GMC dealers have book or microfilm IPB, illustrated parts breakdown, on everything they sell. Go to a dealer's parts department and nicely ask them to show you the IPB on that door. It may take a few minutes to find a 12 year old car IPB and there may be paying customers who get waited on first but if you are patient and courteous eventually they can help you. Most will even print you out a page, then you will know all the parts, their numbers, how they go together, whether or not that old part can still be had through GM, and about how long it takes a GM tech to replace that part.
This works on about all cars where you can still find a dealer. Also if you have 3 dollars you can buy these IPBs on CD for many cars over on eBay.

1998 gmc surburban. front blows
Hi John,
Your right with your diagnostics, you have a blend door problem.
If your switching to cool air and it is still hot then you also have a heat exchange unit fault, this is the component that changes the water flow from hot to cool by shutting off.
If it is not operating correctly this will give you constant hot air no matter where you temperature switch is positioned.
As for the warm air while the engine is cold, sounds like the blend door is still open to atmosphere tempreture and if it is hot outside will pull that hot air into the inside of the vehicle.
Have the heat exchange valve checked, and the only way the check blend door operation is to remove the wiring from the blend doors and have the circuit tested. If the circuit is ok then the blend doors will need to be replaced.
Hope this helps

My 1998 Gmc Suburban battery
The number will drop on some accessorie and spike in others. What is happening is a hot wire is grounding onto the chassis or body where other accessories are grounded. when this happens you get too much energy to certain systems that will cause malfunction. As a mechanic i strongly suggest that if you are unfamiliar with automotive electrical systems, that you take it in to a shop to be looked at. The last thing you need is a fire. Lol believe me it happened to me years ago before i became a mechanic. I tried to fix the cluster in my Civic and it caught on fire in the mall parking lot. Good luck mtoxmma!
