01 Mazda protege 1.6 changed fuel pump, car won't start!! What is the problem?

pump only runs cranked or engine running. (NORMAL) key on it can run pump for 1 seconds, this is called prime no single tech can run that fast to the pump. so key on 5 times to purge the air in the lines. so is spark good?, it must be good if the PC sees (detects) spark bad, it cuts feeling 100% dead, so car does not catch fire, by law. same as key on, pump is not on , key on after the prime pulse. 302 is cylinder misfire, reset it and it is gone. always check spark first. not fuel , fuel is last of the big 3.
  • engine good
  • spark good
  • and if spark is good ,fuel tests is now allowed.
my guess is 1.6 L ZM-DE. this engine? aka Z6 16valves, DOHC. belt drive, gen 9 car. so 22 years old and running the cam belt way past 100kmeters odometer, wash wear repeats ever 100km for got that rule? if yes the belt slips and the CMP and CKP sensor fail for sync when SYNC fails inside the PCM it cuts spark and now bends over the head valve.s $$ super expensive fix that./ for $30 belt. so now you know why we check spark on all 4 spark plugs and not just 1 ever. took a bath i fuel ? just for lost spark??? (sad face) gasoline(petrol) cannot burn lacking spark this is no diesel. and injections of fuel on a no spark engine is a huge fire hazard for sure in any kind of crash. OK? that is how it all works pure PCM logic and laws making this happen, just like this. if spark was good and gas tank dry, the engine runs on sprayed test fuel instant start in a can runs for 3 seconds and stop repeat 3 time or more, see the engine sounds good and is. if fails this test, spark is gone or the cam timing why the heck off and is the main cause. Ignoring the belt is #1 cause. on all belt cam engines. vast.

2001 protege parts diagram There is a shaft coming

You pretty much have it bud with what you said, some call it the front cv shaft pilot bearing or driveshaft support bracket bearing. These are pretty common to go out and they will know exactly what you need when you describe what you said here. I work on cars everyday and we all seem to have little variations on terms, mainly it seems to be what kind of vehicle you prefer is the terminology you use. But yeah front driveshaft support bearing is good

Flashing check engine light

code p 0421 refers to warm up cat converter , bank 1 --efficiency below threshold ====causes --cat converter---wiring---HO2S ( heated oxygen sensor ( ==the unit in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter) as cat converts fail and can block the exhaust system I would advise finding an accredited exhaust shop and having it replaced after that if the light comes back replace the HO2S sensor

Solution 1 would be to diagnose the problem of the low comp in 2& 3 and solve that issue. I would of started w the timing belt 1st. If that didn't solve it,ck head gasket, valves, rings. CK for oil & coolant mixing. Good Luck

Will crank sensor causes fuel injectors not to fire?

On Multi point fuel injector cars where the sequential actuation of the fuel injectors occur the timing is triggered from the Crank Shaft position sensor. The cam shaft is an also key sensor providing the crank shaft rotation sequence first or second rotation to provide the complete timing function Without these two sensors no spark or fuel. An engine code will be recorded will provide the culprit if one has failed. Hope this helps. 26347411-0tr4igh3fp41ezctklovq5br-3-0.png

My 2001 Mazda Protege does not shift into third gear. The check engine and battery light is on. I've had the transmission fluid checked, a tune up and an alternator put in. What should I do?

In every case where the check engine light is on there should be a code read and/or the use of diagnostic equipment to locate the fault, repairs carried out as required and then the code cleared from the memory. It is probable other things will start working normally when the problem causing the engine check light to illuminate has been rectified but whether this is true or not that must be your starting point.

How do i bypass a power steering pump in a 2001 mazda protege without using a smaller belt

You can't. And I wouldn't do it for several reasons. First of all, it will be really difficult to turn the wheel at slower speeds and the reaction time of turning the wheels will be increased tremendously, thus increasing your chances of getting into an accident. Having no power steering assist on a car originally designed with power steering IS NOT the same as a car with manual steering. Second: many power steering racks require some form of recirculating fluid to keep the seals and the rack lubricated. So without the pump, eventually you might seize up the rack or blow a seal and that's a nice expensive repair. Why does it blow EFI fuse when trying to start car?

Sounds like you have a wring problem. With both the pump and injector harnesses disconnected. Plug one and check if fuse blows, then disconnect and try with the other harness. This will help you determine which circuit is causing the fuse to blow. Once you determine the circuit, begin checking the wiring from one end to the other and see it insulation is melted or damaged.

I have 01 Mazda Protege that wont start I checked out the battery to starter and alternator that's not the problem either

Hi Santino, I'm Al the owner of Big As Auto Repair Santino, are you saying when you turn the key to the start position it does nothing meaning its completely dead. OR are you saying when you turn the key to the start position the engine turns over but it will not start and run. If it does nothing then there could be a problem with the KEY Itself or could be the starter relay. Check at the starter relay to see if your getting power from the ignition switch when its turned to the start position. If you don't have power there it could be the ignition switch. But, if you do have power there then you need to see if your getting power from the relay to the starter. Reinstall the relay and have someone turn the key to the start position while you check for power on the small wire going to the starter. I'm stopping here until I know which problem your facing. For further assistance go to my website and answer the question I ask. Have an awesome day Santino. Auto Repair
