where is the air cabin filter in a 2004 gmc sierra 1500
Posted by slick480g on
I can only advise you as to the replacement of a 2002 Sierra, under the dash behind the glove box compartment is a plastic panel held on with four screws, remove this panel and the cabin air filter should be easily identified and replaceable, if you purchase a filter from an Auto Zone Auto parts store or a similiar parts store, they will advise you of whether your vehicle is equipped with the filter/filters and also where its location will be.
Some vehicles are equipped with (two) cabin filters, and also I am told that if you purchase an OEM part(Original Equipment Part) instructions are to be included in the box to further assist you.

2004 GMC Sierra won't shift in and out of 4WD.This problem is intermittent. Some times shifts to 4 Low by itself when started. No indicator lights are lit and display reads "Service 4WD" when problem occurs. A few days later everything functions normally. Tried unplugging and replugging all connectors on transfer case and front Diff. Appeared to correct problem 1st time but did not work this time

The common issue on this year and model is the selector switch for the 4 wheel drive. These tend to go bad and cause these sypmtoms, the other cause is the transfer case switch located on the transfer case. Check all the vacuum line for any loose connections or leaks as this can cuase this as well. From the description your giving me on what you did to fix the issue want me to lean towards the transfer case switch but the dash butttons could still be causing this. these both need to be eleminated.

My 2004 GMC sierra blows hot air out the drivers side and cold air out the passenger side. I replaced both door actuators, one on floor in the center of the truck the other under the dash near the drivers side. But no luck it still blows out hot air.
If you've replaced the actuators and they are working.
One of the blend doors may be broken inside the heater box. To repair or replace the broken door you
have to remove the heater box. This is not a small job. The book gives 6-7 hours for the job. There is a
cheat that I've heard good things about. I guess it can
be done in a fraction of the time. You can find out
about it at heatertreater.net I have not used it myself
but I know somone who has. And it worked well for
him. Hope this helps.

how do you remove a 2004 gmc sierra rear differential from the axle
remove cover.take off back wheels and calipers (or drums).turn differential to where you see small bolt/pin (5/16) horizontally (same direction as axles)on right side of differential.remove bolt/pin.A large pin (about 5"long 3/4"diameter) should slide out differential with ease ( you may have to tap one side of the large pin).turn differential to completely remove large pin.turn differential so you can see in the view window.push each axles in (they'll go in about 1 1/2"each) You may hear one of the axle C-clips fall.If not use a small telescoping magnet to remove the C-clips from the axles through the differential window.pull each axle out about 10"so they are out of the diff. Now remove the cap bolts(4-5/8"bolts) and remove the caps(mark the caps so they go in excactly the way they came out.be careful the diff might fall out.If not you may have to use a long bar or 2x4 to wedge and pry the differential out. Have a basket/crate w/rags in it to catch the diff.TIP:If you are removing the ring gear from the diff, the bolts are left handed bolts meaning you have to turn them clockwise to loosen and counter clockwise to tighten ; )
