2004 GMC Sierra - Page 9 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a 2004 GMC
I believe there is a small motor with 2 springs in the below dash duct work, it may be right above the gas pedal (but I am not 100 % sure) it
contols where the air flows in the ducts. Some what of a damper affair. I have the same problem in my 95 Tahoe, it just seems to stick and often lets go after a few minutes. You may need to give it a little persuasion, but do it carefully because you may drop the two springs off and it may mean pulling the dash out. Lay on you back and locate the motoer and get a helper to move the setting from dash to foor to vent , but give about 45 seconds between each move give a little pull. WD 40 may help but just a liittle.
hope this may help Ron

The speedometer on my 04 gmc sierra is stuck
Sadly, no. What has happened is that the tiny servo motor that moves the speedometer needle is failing. When I run into these we remove the dash assembly and send it out to be repaired, usually by a dealer although there are other companies that can do this too. Usually they replace all the servo motors and backlight bulbs during the repairs but make sure you ask if they do so just to be sure.

2003 GMC Sierra, just had the speedometer quit
if there was a recall the dealer would have told u, they are required by law, so most likely the problem is not under any type of free program, I don't know what work needs to be done exactly, without the labor time and the parts that need to be replaced I can't advise if the cost is high or otherwise.

Where is the air cabin filter in a 2004 gmc sierra
I can only advise you as to the replacement of a 2002 Sierra, under the dash behind the glove box compartment is a plastic panel held on with four screws, remove this panel and the cabin air filter should be easily identified and replaceable, if you purchase a filter from an Auto Zone Auto parts store or a similiar parts store, they will advise you of whether your vehicle is equipped with the filter/filters and also where its location will be.
Some vehicles are equipped with (two) cabin filters, and also I am told that if you purchase an OEM part(Original Equipment Part) instructions are to be included in the box to further assist you.

My 2004 GMC sierra blows hot air out the drivers
If you've replaced the actuators and they are working.
One of the blend doors may be broken inside the heater box. To repair or replace the broken door you
have to remove the heater box. This is not a small job. The book gives 6-7 hours for the job. There is a
cheat that I've heard good things about. I guess it can
be done in a fraction of the time. You can find out
about it at heatertreater.net I have not used it myself
but I know somone who has. And it worked well for
him. Hope this helps.

I have a GPS Tracking device I want to add.
Go below steering columb. Remove knee panel and catch a heavy guage red wire with test light. Should be hot with key off. Use a ground in that area directly to metal. Also a good place to hide the unit.

Truck makes clicking noise just after starting up!
The smoke if it's white and goes away is just condensation in the exhaust system evaporating and the clicking noise could be the famous GM Piston slap. You can take it to the GM Dealer, there is an upgrade ECM program to help eliminate the piston slap noise when the engine is cold. You can also try adding some Lucas engine treatment to your engine oil to help with the piston slap problem. Start with that and hope it's not overdue for an oil change or low oil level in the engine.
Thank you for using Fixya

Speedometer loser power for a second
the dash clusters in the 03 -07 chevy 1500-6500 trucks have issues with their motors that are in the cluster. they work then don't, stick, jam, reset, etc. GM has a recall on these if your truck is privately owned and under 125000 KMs, Just contact the dealer to start and ask if you truck is included in this recall. If it isn't then you might want to find someone to repair it. we repair these unit often. good luck to you

On a 2004 gmc sierra, service air bag message on
There is no reset, you have to take it to a repair shop and get the codes read to see what is causing the light to come on.Usually just a sensor. When it is repaired the shop can use a scan tool to reset the light. This would be the the only way to reset the light.Hope this helps.Good luck.
