1991 GMC S-15 Jimmy - Page 8 Questions & Answers
How do I find the problem to a radiator leak on a 2001 GMC jimmy.
Have to use a coolant system pressurizer, which can be borrowed for free at one of the chain automotive stores. It attaches to the top of radiator where the cap is. Pushes air through the system, and should find your leak. Popular places to look are the bottom of the water pump, radiator itself, and the overflow tank. Overflow tanks can crack on bottom side, hard to find without this pressurizer.
4.3 vortec code po300
code p 0300 is random misfires and it is mainly from low fuel pressure
regardless of the make of car the pressure has to be no less than 45 -65psi
check the fuel pressure regulator
the next thing could be a problem ECM unit so substitute it with a known good one and see what happens
A 2001 jimmy gmc my speedometer dose not work and my transmision will not shift i changed the sensor and it didnt fix the problem i changed the filter didnt help what else could cause this problem
What sensor did you change . VSS - vehicle speed sensor or output speed sensor .
The ideal what to find the problem would be to hook up a factory scan tool to see the VSS is put out a signal to the PCM/ECM , then see if the PCM /ECM is sending info to the instrument cluster ,. And knowing how these this work couldn't hurt either .
The IPC displays the vehicle speed based on the information from the PCM. The PCM converts the data from the vehicle speed sensor to a 4000 pulses/mile signal. The IPC uses the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM in order to calculate the vehicle speed. The speedometer defaults to 0 km/h (0 mph) if a malfunction in the vehicle speed signal circuit exists.
Have the vehicle checked for DTC"S - diagnostic trouble codes . No all code's turn on the check engine light .
DTC P0608
The PCM creates the vehicle speed output signal by pulsing the circuit to ground. The PCM pulses the circuit at the same rate as the vehicle speed signal input. The PCM monitors the voltage on the vehicle speed signal circuit. If the PCM determines the voltage is out of the normal operating range, a DTC sets.
Install a scan tool.
Raise the vehicle's drive wheels. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
Start the engine.
Place the transmission into drive for an automatic transmission or third gear for a manual transmission.
With the scan tool, observe the Vehicle Speed Sensor parameter in the PCM data list.
Does the Vehicle Speed Sensor parameter match the speedometer display?
This is something best taken to a qualified repair shop . This could be a wiring issue , or the PCM or the instrument cluster .
My 2001 4.3 2wdgmc jimmy goes forward but will not move in reverse
If the vehicle moves and shifts properly at each forward drive setting, then the linkage is probably not the problem. However, you should check the shift cable at both ends as you get someone to shift through the positions. If the cable and linkages are OK, the problem is probably in the transmission.
2001 GMC jimmy Turns over when cold but does not fire seems like its not getting gas
If you have the spider fuel system, it is noted for problems. Use a fuel pressure gage, 60--66 psi, to get it to start.
Did you check for spark at the plugs? Any applicable trouble codes?
There have been service bulletins about cold start up problems, in the morning, after it starts it usually does fine the rest of the day, poppets need cleaning.
Have a 2001 GMC Jimmy
lots of people have 2001 gmc jimmy so can you be a bit more specific as to why you are on the fixya site if you want assistance with a problem
2001 GMC Jimmy misfire
most misfires are from injector problems /low fuel pressure problems
unless you can be more specific , clean/check injectors
check fuel pressure
check coil packs if individual coils
Sunroof wont open
Actually the motor isn't broken or it wouldn't click. The clicking you hear is either a broken cable between the motor and the gears that move the glass or stripped/broken gears either at the motor or the glass. Not ever having seen the sunroof guts of that particular car I can't say exactly what, but either the motor, gear pack or cable (or possibly all) will need replacing. It could be something just loose but don't count on it and even if it is the over head console has to be removed and possibly the headliner. That is car dependent. The only way you'll get an accurate price is to call some places local to you.
