Knocking at oil pan when idling

sounds like lower engine damage, could be a bearing or low oil pressure but if knocking the damage is done. i would have a tech just double check it to make sure, i have seen flywheels make noise and pulleys and a/c compressors, so just make sure it is in the oil pan if so then engine will need repair.

Check fuel cap light coming on, replaced twice - still on. ideas?

It sounds like you have a large evap leak. The cap is most likely not the cause. You could have a hole in any numerous evap lines or in the fuel filler neck. Also the canister vent solenoid could be malfunctioning. Your best bet is to have an emissions certified shop test the system with a smoke tester. They need to have a scan tool capable of actuating the canister vent solenoid.

Have you checked your relays yet? Many electrical problems with lights can be attributed to bad relays or relay connections.

How to get air out of braking system on 2002 explorer sport trac

When you replaced the pads, hopefully you opened the bleeder while pushing the caliper piston in.If not ,the old burnt fluid would be pushed into the ABS system ,not good.I would pull the ABS fuse and see how it acts. With the ABS disabled you SHOULD have normal base brakes, like in the old days,If so ,most likely culprit is the tooth wheel on the front axle.If you want to bleed it ,just take the master cyl. cover off and openone of the front bleeders, gravity will do the rest. Will take maybe 20 minutes just wait for clean ,clear fluid to come out. Then the other side, make sure to keep the master full.Pumping the brakes to bleed can make a mess if there is air, whips it into a foam and you never get it out.
