I don't know how much better gas mileage you will get with a gear change. I don't think it will be worth the cost verses saving a couple mpg. The 5.4L engine is kinda small for this size truck. The better way to go would be a cold air intake and an aftermarket exhaust this will easily give 5-10 mpg increase over stock and won't sacrafice any power when towing

Sounds like you are talking about the vacuum sys for the truck. If so you need all of the lines connected to get it to work correctly and pull vacuum on the different vacuum sw on the truck.

You need to find out what code it is setting and then it will most likely be a sensor that needs replacing

Have you checked if vacuum builds up in the gas tank, due to a plugged filler cap???

Try grounding the horn with a test light off of each lead. If energized, the horn should sound if it's good. If it doesn't, and the test light lights at the horn, then the horn itself should be replaced.

If you changed the fuel filter 2 weeks ago, I would first verify that the fuel filter is good! Dirt from the tank could have clogged it up again.

The next suspect would be the fuel pump in the tank.

What does the vehecile act like if you rev the engine up in neutral? Does it show any signs of fuel starvation? If so concentrate on fuel system.

I think your horn relay is making contact from behind your horn buttons on your steering wheel. Usually as time creeps up the insulation that is placed on the positive lead for the horn gets worn out from constant horn action. If it is worn down the horn is touching a ground and completing the circuit and thus making the horn sound. I would start with that first before getting more technical. Let me know. Gabe

is it dual tanks? it could be in the switch if it is, most of the time it is bad grounds to the tank unit. grounding the wire from the sending unit to the gauge should make it move, one way or the other

A very common proplem with this engine is the coil packs sit on top of the spark plugs with a approx 4 inch boot to the spark plug. Especially when there is wet weather moisture will get the the spark plug hole and when the vehicle gets up to temp the moisture will atomize and ground out the spark plug. Sometimes it will not even need to get hot and once it starts missing won't go away.
You will need to run a scan to determine which hole is misfiring. Then disconnect that coil and remove the one small bolt retaining itand pull it up out of the hole. Then take compressed air and blow out the bottom of the hole to dry it out. Re-install coil and your problem should have gone away. If you have a scanner sometimes just clearing the codes and the miss will go away. Be careful taking it to a shop as most shops will just sell you with the fact that you have a bad coil and have it fixed in the process of selling you and installing a new coil of hey maybe they will just blow it out and seeing as it's fixed you now buy into the fact that they replaced a "bad coil". That is not to say that sometimes it is just a bad coil and nothing else will fix it.
v8 triton is the same motor as the v10 with just 2 more cylinders so v10 or 5.4 same thing will apply.

A set of metric sockets and a set of metric wrenches will do the job. You need to remove the valve covers to get to the injectors. There is one bolt per injector. You can use a screwdriver or pry bar to pry the injectors out of there holes. On the glow plugs remove the wire and remove the plugs with a socket, it may take a deep well socket to get them out. Be very carefull removing the glow plugs, you DO NOT want to break the heads off of them, this would be a whole nother problem you don't want to get into. If they are tight, then take your time and turn them out alittle then back in. use a lubricant if you have to. Go back and forth and they will come out. just take your time. If you are going to remove the injector cups in the head, then you will need a special tool to do this. But if you are just replacing injector seals I wouldn't recommend replacing the cups.

Oil in coolant, white smoke at start up = blown head gasket or cracked cylinder.

White smoke is water vapor from coolant. Only at startup indicates a small (extremely small) leak -- it will get bigger. Only at startup is because as engine cools it sucks water into cylinder. A compression check will tell you which cylinder is the problem (could be multiple)
