Changed the battery and it set off the alarm. it seams like it activated a kill switch of some kind. is there a way to reset it?

You probably had your alarm set when you took out the old one. Just unlock your doors with your key fob, then disconnect the battery again for a few minutes and let it reset with the alarm off.

No reverse

You probably have a problem with your shift cable, mine went out and I could not get it into Park, which is at the opposite end of the spectrum. Its a $30 dollar part, but the transmission shop wanted $200 for the job, I put it in myself, which was a hassle first time, but it working fine now so long as I don't try to shift into Fist gear.

Replace fuel pump relay, where is it and how do I

Disconnect the cable from the vehicle battery's negative terminal to shut off the power. Disconnecting the positive terminal is also a good precaution. 2 Open the hood and check inside the fuse box in the engine compartment. The fuel relay is located here on most cars. Check the underside of the fuse box lid for a diagram showing the fuses/relays in the box and their locations. If the relay is not in the fuse box, check the manual or with your mechanic.3 Remove the fuel pump relay, which is a cube-shaped object that connects with prongs like an electrical plug. Disconnect the plug-in (and fuse, if needed) to the relay to remove it. If the relay is within the box, pry it out carefully with the help of a flathead screwdriver.4 Use the old relay as a guide to get the correct replacement at an auto supply store. A new relay can range in price from $12 to $45. Some relay brands can be more reliable than others. Check with a store specialist for the best relay brand for your vehicle.5 Install the new relay into place in the vehicle. Reconnect the plug-in, fuse and any other connectors. Reconnect the battery cables.6 Repressurize the fuel system, as it should have depressurized after removing the relay. Make sure the gas cap is secure, then turn the ignition on for 2 seconds and shut it off for up to 10 seconds. Repeat at least 5 times; the recommended number can vary, depending on the vehicle.

2000 Ford Econoline e-250 Problem: Its

ok, only 2 things, or areas will cause this, fuel, or electrical, if its fuel, you can check this by having the pressure checked, if your stuck and can't get it to be checked, and have some knowledge of cars do this, along the rail that runs to the throttle body ,, there will be a pressure relief nozzle, ( it looks like a large version of what you add air to in your tire), it may or may not have a cap screwed on it,, but it will have the same type of pin valve , push on this valve tip, be careful if your fuel pump is working correctly, fuel will come out of it , have someone turn the vehicle over,, if more blasts out, you don't have a fuel issue, or not one that shows up here anyway , next, remove a spark plug,, then put the plug wire back on the plug,, what you need to do is ground the end of the plug to a bolt on the motor,, use insulated pliers for this to avoid getting zapped, as you hold it, have someone turn the motor over, at the end of the plug you should see a nice blue spark each time the cylinder fires for the plug you have removed, if not you have electrical issues , replace the plug,, we now need to back track the firing problem, remove the distributor cap, check inside for burns, cracks, or worn spots,, they often get corroded at the contact points or at the tip of the rotor,, so scrape the crud off these points, clean the face of the rotor and put everything back together,, and try and start it, if it starts, replace the car and rotor, if it doesn't, your going to have to remove the coil and have it checked ,, if it checks out ok, then your going to have to get the ignition itself checked,

You probably have a vacuum leak between your intake manifold and along any of the several soft rubber vacuum hoses under dash and under the hood. They may have been pulled loose accidentally or you may have had a naughty little mouse under your hood or even your dash gnawing away on your hoses...they love them for whatever reason. Even a squirrel has been the guilty party under the hood in your engine compartment.

Another possibility is a failure of your A/C, heater control panel in your dash. There are several methods of detecting the leak besides looking closely at every inch of your rubber/plastic hoses (which is the final resort I guess). They make a vacuum leak detector that creates a smoke from baby oil and it lightly pressures up your vacuum hoses from the intake hose connection backwards toward your vacuum system. The smoke should be detectible and reveal your leak. I have the same issue but cannot find the leak.

Good luck. Ron
