Change front hubs 2005 ford

Do yourself a favour and pick up a Haynes manual for your truck. It will cover your truck from front to back. Available at many automotive stores or just look on E-Bay.

Change front bearings 2005 ford

  • First thing I would like to say is use a good HUB when doing the bearings. Don't try to save on this one or you will regret it in two years when you are doing it again. For this vehicle the bearings come as a HUB assembly. The whole thing must be replaced.

  1. Put the e-brake on.
  2. Put a brick behind each tire.
  3. Jack up the tire for the HUB you want to replace.
  4. Remove the lug nuts.
  5. Pull the wheel.
  6. Remove the axle bolt.
  7. Remove the brake caliper. This should be two 15mm bolts that hold the caliper to the spindle.
  8. Now remove the brake rotor (disk). If it don't pull right off then take a sand mallet and pound it off from the BACK SIDE.
  9. Remove the 3 8mm bolts to the dust cover and pull it off.
  10. Now you need to remove that 8mm bolt that holds the ABS wire to the on the back of the steering knuckle.
  11. Disconnect the ABS connector from under the bumper and make sure it is free.
  12. Now look at the back of the steering knuckle and you will see three 15mm bolts holding the HUB in place. Remove them.
  13. Now take a mallet and hit the front side of the HUB until it breaks free. It will pull forward towards you.
  14. Now take a can of brake clean and some rags and clean all the old grease and rust off real good.
  15. Now place the new HUB in place.
  16. Reverse the steps I listed to finish jobs. There are no torque specs for this job so snug things good, just don't twist off the bolts.
  17. You can do the same for all 4 of your HUBs should you need too.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

The fuse for the radio is in the passenger compartment fuse panel (see picture of locationg below). the fuse you're looking for will be in the number 6 position and should be a 10 amp fuse (see other picture below of layout). This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you don't and would like a copy, you can email me at [email protected] with your make, model and year and I will be happy to email you a copy. don't worry, no cost. I hope this helps and good luck.

The right rear axle is

kiker graham, Yes there is a clip that holds the axle in the differential. First jack up the back of the vehicle and support with jack stands. Put the transmission in neutral. Remove the wheel and brake drum from the axle you want to remove. Place a catch basin under the differential and remove all the bolts on the rear cover of the differential. Remove the cover and let the gear oil drain out. You may have to move the break line to remove the cover. When the oil has drained out turn the drive shaft until you see a small bolt in a recess on the right side of the assembly on the opposite side on the main drive gear. This is an 8MM bolt that has to loosened very carefully. First, using a punch, place the punch on the head of the bolt and hit it a few times with a hammer to "loosen" it up. This is done to avoid breaking the bolt. If this bolt is broken then you are going nowhere with this job. BE VERY CAREFUL when removing this bolt. When the bolt is out you can move the pin that it is holding. You will notice that this pin is very close to the ends of the axles. Do not completely remove this pin as the side gears will fall out. Pull the pin out only as far as you need to, to push the axle in towards the center of the vehicle. There is a C clip that will fall out when you have done this. Sometimes you have to spin the C clip to get it to fall out. Pull the axle out only far enough to put the center pin back in place. After you do this push the center pin back in and put the small bolt back in to hold it in place. Remove the axle. If the axle is bent and you say it is then it would be a good idea to replace the axle seal at this time. You can use the axle itself to remove the seal. Use the groove where the C clip sits. Place on the inside of the seal. Using the axle as a pry bry, remove the seal. Replace the seal and put the new axle in. You will have to move the axle around a little to get it to engage the splines on the inside of the side gear. Once again pull the center pin out only far enough to push the axle all the way in. Place the C clip in the slot at the end of the axle and pull the axle out as far as you can. This wont be much. Push the center pin back in and replace the little lock bolt and tighten it up. Clean the cover and the back of the differential and use silicone to seal it. There is a fill hole on the front side of the differential. The plug for this hole will accommodate a three eigths ratchet. Fill the differential until the gear oil starts to spill out of the hole. Replace brake drum and wheel. Good luck with this.

My 2005 Ranger won't run.

You more than likely have a bad spark plug wire on cylinder # 2. But considering that when it starts it only sputters and chugs, you have more wrong than just one bad plug wire. Are you 100% positive you have the plug wires connected correctly. Here is a diagram of both the 3.0 & 4.0 V6. You may also have a bad coil pack. clay58_44.png
