2005 gmc savana reset check light after oil change

The Check Engine light has nothing to do with the oil needing to be changed. Please read on.

When the service engine soon light a yellow light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

I have a 2006 Savana

Take a large (1/4" or wider) flat tippped screwdriver and insert in the outside edge of lens and gently pry off, there is a a plastic tip that holds the lens into the grill housing, once it is loose then move forward and outward. The inside just has a tab that holds the lens in. Mike Thompson ASE Master Tech. Fleetwash Atlanta Shop Manager

2005 2500 gmc savana cluster gauges doesn t work i have replaced twice

Check the fuse box under drivers seat and under hood. If it has been wet it could be corroded inside the black plastic housings. Also check the wiring to both fuse boxes.I use a toner to check the wiring, (power probe iii set) to chase wiring issues and it has saved me many hours and saved $ also. The wiring in use today is minimum at best. Not uncommon to find wire broken in the insulation. Mike Thompson, ASE Master Tech. Fleetwash Atlanta Shop Manager
