Where are these modules located in this vehicle?
Powertrain Control Module = under right side of dash, near blower motor.
Engine Control Module = same as above
Vehicle Control Module = same as above
All Suburban vehicles are equipped with only one of these choices. Good luck.

I recently did a tune up on my 96 GMC sierra with a 5.7 vortec engine. I replaced the spark plugs and wires. The truck was running fine before but now it has a random misfire. The diagnostic I did gave me a P0300 code for a random misfire and something to do with my mass air flow censor being faulty. I replaced the censor and erased the codes on my computer as well as resetting it and it still runs like ****. Could I have a bad distributor or a bad connection somewhere? Why would my engine be running like this now and not doing it before? Anyone have a suggestion?
couple of things, did you actually gap the plugs yourselfor did you go on the assumption that they are pre gapped ? are the lead wires all in the correct firing order ? Is it possible a vacuum line got dis-connected ? I would also check the cap and the rotor.

1996 gmc suburban, i get water in the blower motor after it rains
pull the plastic grate cover off the cowl at heater AC outside air intake at the base of the windshield and check to see that the cowl drains are not plugged with leafs or other debris, this is the common cause, if the drains are clear seal around the cowl air intake with automotive silicone caulking.

HELP !!! Please. 1996 Chev Suburban; 1500K; 350 cu inch; 4WD; rear A/C & heater.I have a leak of "green A/C fluid" under rocker panel of right rear side where the 2 heater lines and 2 A/C lines go back to rear AC. The rubber "grommets" that hold the lines in place seem to have "hex" screws in them; not certain. However, I want to cut away about2 or 3 feet of each A/C line & replace with either high-pressure flex hose OR new line section using rubber hose connectors on all 4 "joints". Will either or both approaches work? Which would be recommended? (I don't want to pay for the 90 feet of pre-cut AC lines at a parts store nor go thru process of "snaking" it all under car nor all connections and bracings.) THANKS !!Howard - -- [email protected] ---- 04-28-2009
There is a web site called www.acblockkits.com and the have a/c line repair kits and rear a/c block off kits for just about any vehicle readily available. I repaired my corroded lines last year and it took about 20 minutes and the rear a/c has been working great ever since. HIGHLY recommend this web site!!!

i am trying to remove my fuel tank from a 96 chevy suburban
ok i'm going to guess that you have a gasoline engine with a side tank like in a pickup truck. if you have a diesel let me know, things might be a little different. here's the step by step for a gas side tank. before you start, disconnect the battery negative cable.
1. drain the fuel from the tank (they don't tell you how, just get as much out as you can)
2.raise and safely support vehicle (get it high enough that you can get under it to work on it)
3.loosen the fuel neck hose at fuel neck and disconnect filler neck from tank
4.support tank and remove tank support straps and insulator strips
5.remove frame mounted bracket
6.lower fuel tank shield
7.lower fuel tank enough to gain access to fuel and electrical connections
8.disconnect fuel feed and vapor hoses
9.disconnect electrical connectors
10.remove fuel sender assembly and seal ring
now to install new tank
1.install NEW seal ring and install sender
2.raise tank enough to connect fuel feed /vapor hoses and electrical connector
3.raise tank fully
4.install fuel tank shield
5.connect fuel tank filler neck and tighten clamp
CAUTION tighten fuel strap fasteners in steps, alternating between straps, until proper torque is reached. failure to properly follow this step can cause bottom of tank to deform. fuel gauge may read improper level if this occurs
6.install fuel tank brackets and insulator strips
torque nuts to 115 in-lbs
7.install fuel tank filler cap
8.connect battery negative cable
9.turn ignition switch off and on and check for leaks
it's pretty much the same for rear tank, just different location, may have off-road shield in back and torque spec is 47 ft-lbs, not 115 in-lbs. you still have to alternate when you torque straps or you risk deforming tank. hope that helps

40 amp ignition fuse blew. I replaced the fuse and now the lights all go on when the key is turned on but the vehicle will not start...or even try to start. The battery is fully charged.
The 40 amp maxi fuse in the underhood junction block (According to the information I have, there is only one 40 amp fuse in there..) goes directly to the ignition switch. From there, it goes to the buss bar in the Instrument Panel Fuse Block where it feeds several smaller fuses. It also feeds the starter relay in the Underhood Fuse and Relay Center.
My biggest concern would be: What caused the fuse to blow in the first place?
If you get nothing else from my preaching, get this:
Fuses don't blow for no reason....ESPECIALLY not a 40-amp Maxi Fuse!
I can't count how many times I have heard people say: "It's JUST a blown fuse." WHAT???
I have been at this for 35 years and I can tell you that blown fuses are reason for major concern in my book. That 40-Amp Maxi Fuse just saved your truck from burning to the ground and you need to find out why!
The only way that fuse is going to blow is if there is a direct short to ground between the Underhood Fuse and Relay Center and the Instrument Panel Fuse Block (The only "component" between these two is the ignition switch.) or if the secondary side of the starter relay circuit is shorted to ground. The secondary side of the starter relay feeds the "S" terminal of the starter solenoid. (at the starter)
I think the first place I would look for the problem would be the circuit between the starter relay and the starter. It is likely to be shorted against the exhaust or engine block. If this is the case, it most likely fried the starter relay in the process. (which is why the fuse no longer blows and the engine no longer starts)
Aftermarket remote starting units are also usually tied into this circuit. If your vehicle has one of these, it could very likely be the original source of your problem.
At any rate, there should be no rest, truck running or not, until the reason for the blown fuse is found. You will most likely get the truck running in the process of locating the reason for the blown fuse.

Finding where to put transmission fluid can be a bit of a challenge on some cars.
