see if you can turn the motor with a ratchet or breaker bar and socket, if you cannot turn it relatively easy you may have a locked up engine, if you can turn it then replace the starter anyway, bench testing is not an accurate way of telling what a component will do when installed in the vehicle. the louder the "clunk" the higher the likelyhood of the locked up motor

My 1998 bonneville fuel guage is stuck on full.
there is a plunger in the fuel tank that controls the gauge, have a mechanic check that, and worst case have a new gauge installed. and if you dont want to do any of those. just keep an eye on the amount of mileage driven and refuel as necessary.

96 bonneville starting issue, trying to arc start
When you try to start your car and it doesn't turn over, does it make a clicking noise from the engine compartment? If so, then the solenoid on the starter is bad, and yes, you will need to get a starter, unless you want to be adventurous and tear open the solenoid. If you decide to do this, the main culprits are obvious, and you can add some life to them. You open up the solenoid, and there is a big copper washer on the slide, and two copper terminals that go out the back of the solenoid. If the washer's worn, you can flip it over, and put it back together. if it's the terminals, you can take them out, turn them around, and put them back in again. either way will cost you nothing, and allow you to use that starter for tens of thousands of miles more.
I have a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SE V-6. My heat
Back up. Who and why were there controls changed and did that fix one issue and now were on to another. Work with me here. If you go to a repair shop instead of doing your own repairs you expect to have ALL issues PROPERLY fixed. Do you have heat or a/c in any position?
My car smells like gas inside too
not the catalytic converter. you have a fuel line leaking somewhere. check lines on top of motor at fuel rails.and line leading from tank to filter-filter to motor.
I need to get the schematics to the ingnition
Sounds like the security system is engaged. If the security light is flashing with the key on, leave the key on till it stops flashing (about 10 or 15 minutes) then once it glows steady try and start it. The chip on those is in the tumbler assembly and you can change that if necessary then re-set it. You don't need a schematic for that and it is a classic symptom. It's easy to try and wont cost you anything if it just needs a re-set.
I Started my car an my serpentine belt poped off
You may need to take it to a shop or have someone replace the tensioner for you as that ca be the only reason as to why your belt came loose unless the belt snapped in which case you need to replace the belt good luck
