No heat working in cab

depending on outside temperature but if you in new york state and from what i have seen on the TV with the ice then place a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator to block the air flow so the engine can get warm then when weather warms up a bit check it all out by flushing the heater core and then the engine ,check thermostat is fitted and refill with antifreeze .

I have a 96 nissan king cab xe 2400 ist starts

A few things to try. Might be engine knocking from not using proper octane fuel. Also, an oil/filter change. If these simple things do not help, seek out a mechanic.

Follow the lower radiator hose from the radiator back to the engine. Where the hose attaches to the engine is where the thermostat housing is.

Tranny problems

Well, you say the noise is in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, and I assume this is an overdrive tranny with the overdrive in 5th.

This means your 4th gear is more than probably direct (1:1) ratio.

Meaning you have a bad countershaft bearing(s), or gears...

In direct, your countershaft still spins but carries no power/torque to the wheels (it is basically just freewheeling), input shaft speed/torque goes directly/is locked to the output shaft, so you don't hear the noise; in any other gear, where the countershaft bears a load, you hear the bad bearing or gears.

Either way your tranny has serious internal issues and needs to be rebuilt before it destroys itself.

Just changed the fuel filter on my navara D40 dual cab started it, ran for 5 seconds and won't start again. Have pumped the top on the filter for ages. HELP

check if there is bleed screw on the pump and if so bleed there while pumping the filter pump. Next loosen off the injector line nuts and crank over until you see fuel droplets at the nuts . keep cranking as you tighten up the nuts and it should go. Diesels not starting after filter changes ( or running out of fuel) is a result of air in the system / pump/ injectors.
