you need a mecahnic that know what he's doing. is the head warped, quality gaskets, head bolts? has the head been checked out OK at the machine shop? a big problem has been missed, 4 times.

Do you hear a click near shifter when ignition is on and you step on brake? if not you have a Shifter Interlock problem. you ennd to check fuses for a possible blown fuse. If it is not a fuse it could be the Switch or solonoid. If you hear the click and can not shift, can you press on shifter lock button? if not Shifter Lock is malfunctioning. It must be taken apart to diagnose what it is exactly. If you CAN push Button then it could be the shift cable itself is frozen, and needs replaceing

So many things.. I would first start with the fuel filter. Check to see if there is a good ignition spark at the plugs once it dies. If not replace the power transister next to the distributor. It also could be in the distributor itself. If the spark is good check the fuel pressure. If no good, you need to replace the pump. After that you probably need to do or have diagnostics run and see what that shows. You could spend a lot of money swapping parts.

I had a problem with the interlock switch located on the brake pedal. There are too switches one for the brake lights and one dedicated to the cruise control. If either switch is acting up it will affect the cruise control. Then interlock switch is the same switch that is used on the clutch with cars that have a manual transmission. It has smaller electrical terminals in the connector than the brake light switch. You can jumper the connection and see if it solves the problem. You still have the other switch that will disengage the cruise control when you hit the brake. If that is the problem then that's the one you need to replace.

Which one? The A/C belt is adjusted from the top. Loosen the bolt that goes through the Idle pulley then turn the adjusting bolt next to the pulley to tighten or loosen. Retighten the Idle pulley bolt once adjusted. The Power Steering belt procedure is pretty much the same but has to be done from under the car. The alternator belt is similar but there is no Idle pulley. You loosen the alternator bolts and turn the adjusting bolt. Then retighten the alternator when done.

If it's like the 92 Maixima it is driven electrically from a sensor on the back of the transmission. It's a round cylinder of couple of inches in diameter and about 3.5 inches long with a couple of wires attached. Located on the trans above and to the left of the engine oil filter looking from the drivers seat. It could be this sensor or the insturment cluster could be bad.

It doesn't have a speedo cable. Even though it is an analog dash it is driven digitally from a pick up sensor on the trans. If you look at the back of the trans from up top above the engine oil filter and back toward the drivers fender a bit you will see the round sending unit with wires comming off of it. It may be going opening up when it gets hot. Otherwise you've got a bad instrument cluster. That same sensor feeds the Cruise Control via the instrument cluster.

can be a anti thft problem but they are more know for a crankshaft sensor problem..

Sounds like the switch for the ignition is worn out.

I have a 2002 nissan Maxima. The AC controls only blow on level 4. No air or heat blows from level 1-3. What do I need to do to repair this problem?

you have to scan it by diagnose tool to know which sensor is not working as expected

It is on the air intake hose by the air filter. It has a plug connector to it. It sense how much air is going to the engine so the computer can determine how much gas to put in as well. If the MAF is no good, then the engine may not start, idle high, or may start but will not accellerate if you press on the gas pedal, or it may die out alltogether or backfire.

If the leak is from the pump unit it will need to be replaced,
If the leak is just from the hose it can be replaced.
Identify the definite source of the leak, before proceeding.
A new hose could probably be fitted by DIY if you have the correct tools.

The first thing to look for is the oil in good condition, next you will want to replace the tail shaft seal and if it's front wheel drive it's harder to do, anyway be sure the oil is ok and ask if the have a warranty for it normally 30 days, also take the tork converter out to a transmission shop and ask them if it's good and if it will work, if the used tyranny does not come with one the pump has to be the right size of input shaft and pump shaft you may have to shell out $30..00 bucks for the check but it’s better than pulling the tyranny again.

if it ran out of gas it just may be air locked, you can't just crank the engine turn the key to the run postion for 3 seconds and shut off and do this 7 or 8 times then try starting it. The fuel pump will not pump while cranking it is a fail safe if the car is in a wreck and the pump won't continue to pump gas out and catch on fire. This should fix it for you.

why would you leave it open for so dang long and it would be safe it probly wont tho

Probably a bad distibutor.That's my best answer not knowing in what weather conditions are when this happens.
