I have a 2002 malibu LS, v6, automatic... when I try to start the car, the engine will turn over, but won't start. The spark plugs and coils are fine. Also, this may not be related, but the air conditioning cuts in and out.
What could the problem be?
If car won;t start, but turns over it may be the anti theft system. Follow the directions in the manual-turn the key on and leave it for ten minutes or until the anti theft light goes out. Turn the ignition OFF and then restart the engine. If you continue to have problems with the anti theft system, disconnect the battery for 4 or 5 minutes and then reconnect. It seems to reset the system. Found this out after a mech. had worked on the system, disconnected the battery and told me it would be 400 to 500 to replace the module. Said no thanks and drove off to never have the problem again (so far!) 10,000 mile since.

Thanks to you I know now how to fill the transmission up again. How hard is it to change the transmission filter?
Not very hard by all means if you have a few basic hand tools, a torque wrench and ramps or a jack and stand to lift the car up...
About 95% of automotive automatic transmissions do not have a drain plug, so you have to remove the transmission pan to drain the fluid, and the filter is up under the pan anyway. Remove all the pan bolts, drop the pan, make sure you have a container ready for the oil under it... If you buy the filter/pan gasket kit and you look at the filter it should be a pinch to spot.
This is what your particular filter looks like (from the top)
Replace the filter, clean the pan/transmission mating surface with emery cloth, scuff pad, or whatever needs to be used to get the metal clean again (without removing too much material eg. a grinder would definitely cause a leak).
Reinstall the pan with the new gasket (do not use silicone or any type of fluid "gasket maker" Automatic transmissions have a lot of tiny oil passages which can easily be blocked by these products and cause severe transmission damage)
Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's spec (you don't really need a torque pattern, just start from the middle of the pan and alternate from side to side (this is to make sure the pan seats square with the transmission body)) 90% of the time you could tighten them anyway you want and wouldn't have a leak but you want it done right the first time so don't take any chances (you should be able to get the torque value from the parts store where you get the filter/gasket kit). I'm not able to pull out an exact spec for you right now.
Fill the tranny up, then drive th

I accidently hook my battery charger to the wrong posts (rusty clamps, faded colors). It was connected for approx 3 seconds that way. Now, my radio/CD wont work. EVERYTHING else works, gauges, lights, power, door locks, cruise, etc. and the radio lights up with night lighting. I've pulled fuses from under the hood and along side the dash/driver door but can't even find one stating RADIO.
Finally, I had a different radio without cassette and changed to that radio... same results. So the radio itself is not fried and apparently it's in "security" or something prior to radio. Where is the RADIO fuse?? Any other ideas?? THANKS in advance.
There is a panel on the passengers side of the car, I pulled the fuse used for OnStar because I dont use it. I didn see any labling on mine but it was the fuse located second from the top on the left side, but you have to be looking at it side ways because of the way the fuse box is orientated.
And then put it in the socket all the way to the right second from the bottom, again looking at it sideways. NOTE: My car is a 2006 Malibu LT

I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu and the check engine light came on. I received the code P0128 - coolant temperature below Thermostat Regulating Temp. When I went to check the antifreeze tank there was a layer of oil on the top and what felt like a layer around the inside of the tank. What does this mean and does it have anything to do with the code I received or is this something completely different?
Sounds like your head gasket has a leak. I would also check your dip stick. If there is coolant mixed with the oil also. Then it is your head gasket.

2002 Chevy Malibu. ABS light comes on when I hit bump, and more frequently lately. When I turn off car and turn back on the light is off, but it always eventually comes back on.
The abs light will reset every time the vehicle is shut off. The most common cause of the abs light coming on is a bad wheel speed sensor. A scan tool would be the option to locate the fault in the abs system.

I noticed about a week ago that whie driving and signaling left or right that the turn signals on the dash will start flashing very fast and that the lights will as well when i take a look at the reflection in anything in front of me. The bulbs all seem to be good, have checked them while parked.
Replace the flasher relay. It is usually under the dash. Follow the clicking sound when the flasher is on. It just unplugs.
