Can a faulty theft system drain your battery?

I agree with Andrew about the battery and connections. If the battery is down, we're just spinning our wheels. You need to get it charged up. My info says you have passlock security system, the majority of these systems are fuel injector disable, only. I looked at your starter wiring circuit, if my wiring diagram is correct, your security system has no control over starter motor circuit. With passlock, it is the key cylinder that is matched to the security system, not the key. The key is just a mechanical key.

Electrical problems chevy

Take the driver side kick panel out an check to see if there are any loose ground connections . Normaly car makers hide connections behind this place . Looking at a wiring diagram mite show that all these thing's work intermittently share a common ground point . Check out this ground connection SP202 On the left side of the instrument panel, near the junction block To find or see this ground you may need to pull out the left fuse block .From the picture ,that's what it looks like .

2002 CHEVY MALIBU TURNOVER....BUT SOMETIMES WONT START

I just have one suggestion, after what all your mechanic already did. I would want to know the fuel pressure reading WHEN IT WON'T START. So you would need a fuel pressure gauge handy, for that time it won't start. Hook up the gauge and turn the key on- if at 59 psi, when the engine won't start, then you know the fuel pump and the relay sensor is not the problem. And so probably not a fuel problem, although you haven't checked the injector circuit, but likely that wouldn't exhibit a problem as you have. So if not a fuel problem, check for spark when it won't start. Maybe the problem is in the ignition system. Buy a spark tester from a parts store, use it when the **** engine won't start- simple and easy check of your ignition system.

2002 Chevrolet Malibu oil light on & valves clattering

Check the oil level on the dip stick and make it correct. This engine should have a low oil shut down feature. Possible oil pump failure. With oil at correct level, restart engine. If the oil light does not go out with engine running, shut down immediately. Severe Internal rotating component bearing damage has already occurred. look for loose oil filter or hole in oil pan.

Rear speakers on my 02 chevy Malibu not working don't know why iv tryed everything when I bought the car it worked and then out of nowhere it stoped working

If the radio fader is adjusted fully to the rear and there is no sound the speakers and wiring should be tested. Best way of testing is to remove the radio to access the wiring to the speakers. Identify the pairs of wires to the rear speakers and apply a 9 volt battery to each pair. If the speakers and wiring are good they will make some noise and the fault will be either the connection to the radio or the radio is defective. If no noise is heard when applying the voltage, the rear speakers should be accessed, disconnected and tested in the same way. If you have noise it is the wiring at fault. If no noise the speakers are faulty. The result of testing can be verified at every stage by using a known good speaker and a couple of micro jumper cables.

How to set the radio of a 2002 Chevy Malibu back to factory setting

Has the radio gone into theft lock? If it has, you probably need a code to get it out of theft lock. I have been told some of these codes are online, somewhere, I haven't looked? If the radio is not in theft lock and you just need to know how to set it, your owners manual should have this info. If you don't have an owners manual you can read one online for free at www.my.gm.com Just enter the year--make--model. 26350668-5iogupah1tp3marbg0rdity5-4-0.jpg

I have a 02 chevy malibu My cooling fans won't turn on automatically and car begins to over heat if I turn on the a/c the fans will turn on I have recently changed the cooling temp sensor & thermostat

The fact that the fans operate when in the A/C mode means that there is nothing wrong with the fans themselves or any of their associated relays. The PCM controls the activation of the fans at all times, whether it is due to the A/C controls being on, or from sensing the coolant temperature. Thus, I'd say your problem is in the Coolant Temperature Sensor circuit. Either the replacement sensor you purchased is bad (not as likely) or there is damage in the wiring or possible the PCM itself for the circuit.

Hold down clamps will not remove to replace battery, 2002 malibu

First off , the battery cover should be removed and the "hold down" clamp is at the base of the battery and it would be shaped as a large triangle with a bolt through it. Be sure and remove the negative battery terminal first and then the positive. Installation is the opposite , positive first and then the negative. The bolt should be loosened enough so that the "hold down" clamp comes right out. Your saying you can't get the "hold down" clamp removed. Do you mean the bolt will not turn or it turns but not enough to remove the clamp? More information would help.
