pontiac grand prix 2006 headlight problem

I have the exact problem! I know it's not the bulbs because they work for about 1 minute before going off. And I'm sure it isn't a fuse because they do still work for about 1 minute before going off. My high beams work and every other exterior lights work.... just not my low beams. My cruise control stopped working some time ago, which is on the same control as my lights... I'm thinking maybe it's something electrical that's going to be a pain in the a--. Please help if anyone can. Thanks.

Yes it's the mutifunction switch it needs to be replaced it's the one for the blinker and head lights but if the low beams are going out it's the light switch itself, also expanded ends where the bulb is pluged in could cause this. To fix that you need to remove the connecter and squeeze the conneters together then push them back on. they try it this won't cost you any money, if the stay on your good to go if the go out then if it's the low beams replace the light switch it's not to much $35.00 or so and is easy to replace but would have to tell you how to do that so get back to me and let me know. If your car has a resistor pellet in the key (looks like a chip) there is a definitive solution. This was the only way I was able to save my beloved 94 Park Avenue with the exact same security system: http://newrockies.com/vatsbypass

gm dex-cool vs prestone anti-freeze...

i was told by an certified mechanic, that dex-cool was good and took about a year to condition a new gm vehicle..i have a 1995 pontiac grand prix se,
i am getting the intake manifold gasket replaced for obvious reseasons...the mechanic said that over a period of time the dex-cool formula antifreeze will eventually make a lot of plastic parts soft, such as the plastic intake manifold gasket that gm installs in the 3.1...even the radiator plastic top he has seen gone soft due to the dex-cool. and wants to put in prestone anti-freeze instead of dex-cool. after a complete engine flush of course...is this true, or should i recommend him putting dex-cool back in...??

aldl obd1

I have a 1995 Pontiac with 12-pin ALDL (OBD-I). I was attempting to jump terminal A and B for retrieval of codes, but there is no pin in the B location. There are pins at terminals A, I, and M. I believe M is for a scan tool, but what is terminal "I", third from the left on bottom row? Can it be the diagnostic terminal? Is it not possible to use a simple jumper wire on this setup?

The jumper set should be the upper top right 2 pins. Sometimes the outside of the pin can be broken, however if you place your jumper ( I've even just used a paper clip) inside both terminals, it should give you a response. Make sure your jumper is placed firmly inside of both terminals, then turn your key.

Same problem. 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix V6 3.1L no start problem Question The problem, my car runs great first start of the day but does have a miss fire, and I can drive for hours without a problem, but when I turn it off and try to start again 30 -60 minutes later it chuggles and dies and won't start for a least 3-5 hours later, then runs fine again. It trys to turn over and the battery does not drag, no signs of a bad alternator. Everything has power, all fuses are ok I checked them today. Second trip to repair shop resulted in no 3 fuel injector replaced with good results. Fuel pressure checked out ok, No smoking white or black, fuel filter replace and car had a tune up recently also the mass air flow was replaced supposedly, I am starting to wonder if these parts were actually new used or not put in at all but I am charged anyway this is fourth time to the repair shop however now the third time but this is at no charge by a church member's friend so I am inclined to take his advice and think it is the engine module. Three different auto repair garages tell me the following: either the cam shaft sensor, crank shaft sensor, or ignition module, causing no start or start and chuggle and die problem and bad & loose hoses sucking in air. (From my experience engines don't take in air they leak it out through vacuum leaks.) Apparently the last fix resulted in hand made manifold gaskets I did not know about and may also be causing contamination on my low coolant sensor cause it stays on, however back to the no start problem; my engine is getting to much air I am told, I am incline to think there is a vacuum hose leak somewhere instead. Was also told intake manifold gaskets may have a air leak, bad and loose hoses and possibly the sensor's I mentioned. So before I shove out money I don't have, I am doing some homework and found your site. What do you think is going on. Someone else said I do not have a crank shaft sensor. So I don't know whom to believe.
