I believe the chime may be tied into the radio, since the chime is heard through the drivers door speaker. Did you replace the factory radio? That may have caused it. Or if the factory radio isn't working it could be that.

In order to get the code you need to go to a Chevy dealer with the VIN of the car it came in, the number from the radio and proof of ownership. There are what they call mode door's these days they have a electrical motor that turnes the door to different posistions...sounds like yours is become broken. It would depend on your expertise in the ac & heating system area to replace the part. Sometimes easy and most of the times the dash has to be removed.

Speedometer The IPC displays the vehicle speed based on the vehicle speed signal from the PCM. The PCM converts the data from the vehicle speed sensor to a 4000 pulses/mile signal. The IPC uses the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM in order to calculate the vehicle speed. The speedometer defaults to 0 km/h (0 mph) if a malfunction in the vehicle speed signal circuit exists. Having the vehicle hooked up to factory scan tool can take all the guess work out of a diagnoses like this .
