1992 Chevrolet Corvette - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Sys light flashes every 15 sec.
It could be something to do with the battery itself. It may not be all the way in or tightened up. Because that will cause a lot of those problems.
I have a 1992 Corvette
I don't know about the system, but it would seem like it is working in reverse have you checked to see if some how the wires are switched around.
1992 Corvette cigarette lighter
the fuse box is at the far right sidw of the dash, in order to gain access you must first open the right door and and fuse box is on the end of the dash
How do i remove the battery to a 92 corvette with a body kit
I have a 92 with a body kit as well (Greenwood). If your body kit will not let you get to the bottom bolts off (mine is the same), no worries. take all the bolts off that you can see IE: wheel well bolts on to etc. the panel does not have to be completely removed to change the battery. You will have enough room to scoop the battery in and out by pulling the battery up and out on an angle. You will not hurt/break anything. Seriously about a 15 minute task.
No pulse to the injectors
You should be getting constant power at all times with the ignition switch on. The black wire at all injectors are your power wires. Check both sides for power as the left side and right side have a seperate power source, The ground pulse comes from the engine control module (ECM). Check to make sure you are not getting that Gound pulse at EVERY injector. The ground pulse on the right side will be on the dark green wire at the injector and the dark blue wire on the left side. The bad news is the last couple of times I had this situation it ended up being the ECM but there are several tests in order to diagnose that first so just don't go out and buy one because I said that. The first thing you will want to check is the ECM fuse in the main fuse panel located inside the vehicle on the right side. Below is a picture of the fuse layout. I marked the fuse you will want to check. It is only a 3 amp fuse but a very important one. The second thing is to check your main ground for the ECM for that circuit. Below is another picture and I have marked the location of the ground you need to check and maybe clean as well. The wire for that circuit will be a black and white wire. There are still a few things to check but this is where I would start. This is an odd question but you haven't recently disabled there air bags have you ? Part of the airbag system helps in the power source to the injectors. If you need any further testing you can reply here or email me directly at
[email protected] and I'll be happy to try and help further. Hope this helps and takes care of the problem........
Opti spark
The engine will misfire like crazy or just not run at all.
Security light flashes when driving and check slr light comes on then when you shut it off it wont start
The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Remember too, the TDM controls the security light. Sometimes you can have ALL the symptoms and no lights. This link may help you.

WONT START
It sounds as if the Ignition Control Module has failed. Remove the easiest spark plug you can reach. Reattach the plug wire and clamp the plug down to the valve cover or something that will make a good ground or electrical path. Have someone crank the engine while you watch to see if there is a spark across the electrodes. DON'T HOLD THE PLUG WHILE YOU DO THIS, IT WILL KNOCK YOU ON YOUR ****! If there is no spark chances are the ICM is bad. It's located on the left front behind the Pwr Steer Resevoir on the engine block. You might be able to remove it, 2 small screws, and have it checked out a a parts store. If you don't have any luck with this post your problem on corvetteforum.com. There are many there that will help.
