2004 Pontiac Grand Prix - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Is it ok to run my 04 grand prix without the thermostat
It is not the best but can be done.
Don't remove the whole thermostat only the center part and fit the frame back in the housing.
If you remove the whole thermostat you can end up with cavitation problems and this can cause hot spots in the engine.
Vibrating noise
Did you look under the hood and try to pinpoint the noisy component?
My HUD went out with no explanation.
by fine you mean 32 PSI, need to be 36 PSI for most of those horrible wheel sensors. The hud is probably shot and since Pontiac is gone, good luck getting parts.
HUD is out. The fuse is fine.
Sometimes the simple answer is the best. The heads up display works off a mirror that reflects the image up to the windshield. The same way it works on fighter jets. (military) The factory spring is weak at best and in high heat or cold the spring breaks. Look down through the windshield in the upper corner of the HUD and if it's swinging there's your answer.

Have you had your alternator checked? Whens the last time you replaced your battery cables or checked for a good ground? Check your connections around your starter and solenoid.
Charging system failure
Hello! The problem you are experiencing is most likely due to a fautly or malfunctioning alternator. You can take the car to any major auto parts store, and they can do a FREE charging system test which will tell you if your alternator is operating (and charging the battery) properly, as well as if your battery is accepting the incoming charge from the alternator.
Hope this helps and good luck!
Engine not starting
check around the battery area under the hood, for what looks like wires with fuses . theyre called fusible links. its possible that they are bad. its also possible that the starter is bad, but the solenoid on the starter is ok. ALSO check for inline fuses in or around the battery area . my camaros have them, but they are generally for the fuel pump.
in your case , it seems as if the starter is bad.
Ac/heater doesn't turn off on a 2004 Pontiac grand prix
Usually a break down in the Blower Motor "resistor" the resistor is bad, not the blower motor...you may need to unplug the blower motor until you find and install the resistor...your parts store can confirm the right part, and location. Hope this helps.
