1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Need the firing order diagram for a 1983 olds 5.0
The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. From the front of the car odd numbers on the drivers side of the engine and even numbers on the passengers. The distributor turns clockwise and #1 is at the 5 o'clock position. Hope this helps.
Stalling
Have you done a back pressure test on it? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, unbolt exhaust at heads or before the catalitic converter/converters. Try starting then driving it then. If that solves your problem, your catalitic converter/converters are clogged.
My 1983 260 olds is
Remove the distributor and check the gear at the bottom for missing teeth. Check for excessive play in the distributor shaft. If it checks out, Re-install the distributor and place a socket at the crank bolt. With the dist. cap off, rotate the engine backwards. While watching the rotor, see how far you have to rotate the engine before the rotor moves. If it seems like a long way, replace you timing set. You may have a severely stretched timing chain.
Starter problem
Sounds like the starter is shorted out. Or the possitive cable is grounded to the chassis.

1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass cruiser wagon.
USA spec car? or not>? export.
USA cruiser has 3 engines
2.5L (L4)
2.8L V6
3.3L v6
i will roll dice and pick 3.3 V6,sorry not doing all 3 .
it uses 4T60ACM box, GM made. box. common too.
T= transverse box, FWD. 4speed, load rated 60 (weak)
this box shifts by mech tail end GOVERNOR
and by vac modulator and TV dentent cable.
both, 3 device set shift points on this hydramaic.
I guess you think this box is electronic shifted via TCM
that it> ?
it does have a TCC lockup solenoid only
ECU runs that, no TCM there.
to fix any car, learn 2 things,
what engine is there and the real name of the transmission,
the GM car as an RPO tag, and tells both. in xyz codes for sure.
GM this is a great feature.
then post symptoms all, good and bad.
R and Low ok
but drive will not upshift from 1 >2
or shifts and flares. or what./?
aka

Can you test a fuel
yes, but you will also need a source of 12 volts, like your car battery.
Or, you can test it in the car by listening for it to click while someone turns the ignition on.

94 Oldsmobile with 3100 V6,
First check the fuel
filter, fuel pump and fuel pressure
regulator to make sure they are all
functioning properly. Also, check the
catalytic converter to make sure they are
not plugged.

Where does the power come from to the dash fuse box
These other people have no clue ! Battery voltage to the L/H & R/H inside fuse box's come from different sources. The ignition switch - when in the ACC,on an start positions , plus Mega fuses in the under hood fuse box. L/H BEC BATT 1 fuse # 5 40 amp location - under hood fuse box , plus R/H BEC BATT fuse # 2 30 amp fuse -location under-hood fuse box. Which inside fuse box? has two - left and right .
Oldsmobile barada Frost plugs need diagram
Nothing specific as engine number is not disclosed but;
Typical plug sites are in the side of the block under a manifold ; at the back, inside or above the clutch housing - awkwardly near the bulkhead; and in the top of the cylinder head, often hidden under an overhead camshaft . Plugs can blow out completely, resulting in a sudden loss of coolant.
