Interior lights do not go off when car is put into gear.

Unless you can find a diagram for the location of the relays... unplug them one at a time... till you find the one that controls the lights

1992 oldsmobile 88 royale needs jump to start but battery and terminals, solenoid, starter and alternator have been checked and are good. what else could it be?

It sounds like you have ruled out some common causes for the starting issue with your 1992 Oldsmobile 88 Royale. If the battery, terminals, solenoid, starter, and alternator have all been checked and are in good condition, there are a few other things you can try to troubleshoot the problem.
  1. Check the fuel system. A faulty fuel pump or clogged fuel filter could cause the engine to not start. Check the fuel pump and fuel filter and replace them if necessary.
  2. Check the ignition system. A faulty spark plug or ignition coil could cause the engine to misfire and not start. Check the spark plugs and ignition coils and replace them if necessary.
  3. Check the fuel pressure. Low fuel pressure can cause the engine to not start. Check the fuel pressure and make sure it is within the manufacturer's specifications.
  4. Check the engine temperature. If the engine is overheating, it could cause the engine to not start. Check the engine temperature and make sure it is within the normal range.
If you have checked all of these things and the problem persists, it is possible that there is an issue with the engine itself, such as a problem with the valves or cylinders. I recommend having a mechanic diagnose the problem in order to determine the cause and recommend the appropriate repair. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Delta 88. When I start

It sounds like you are having a problem with your 1999 Oldsmobile Delta 88. The issue you described, where the engine starts and then shuts off after a few seconds, could be caused by a number of things. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the fuel system. A faulty fuel pump or clogged fuel filter could cause the engine to shut off shortly after starting. Check the fuel pump and fuel filter and replace them if necessary.
  2. Check the ignition system. A faulty spark plug or ignition coil could cause the engine to misfire and shut off. Check the spark plugs and ignition coils and replace them if necessary.
  3. Check the fuel pressure. Low fuel pressure can cause the engine to shut off shortly after starting. Check the fuel pressure and make sure it is within the manufacturer's specifications.
  4. Check the engine temperature. If the engine is overheating, it could cause the engine to shut off. Check the engine temperature and make sure it is within the normal range.

Troubleshooting rochester 2gc carburetor --- I

It sounds like you are experiencing a problem with the Rochester 2GC carburetor on your 1957 Oldsmobile. The issue you described, where the engine is difficult to restart after it has been shut off for a period of time, could be caused by a number of things. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the fuel level in the carburetor bowl. If the fuel level is too low, the engine may not start. Make sure the fuel level is at the proper level and that the bowl is not leaking.
  2. Check the float level. The float in the carburetor controls the fuel level in the bowl. If the float is set too high, it can cause the engine to flood when it is restarted. Adjust the float level according to the carburetor manufacturer's specifications.
  3. Check the fuel pump. The fuel pump supplies fuel to the carburetor. If the pump is not working properly, it could cause the engine to flood or not start at all. Test the fuel pump and replace it if necessary.
  4. Check the fuel lines. Make sure the fuel lines are not clogged or damaged. Replace any damaged or clogged fuel lines.
I hope these suggestions help! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Engine starts when cold but won't restart when half warmed up

It's probably still a problem with the ignition control module/coil, with a circuit in or attached to it heating up as the engine warms, and then the circuit opens when stopped and it starts to cool. As soon as the engine sufficiently cools off, the circuit would revert to a good connection. I would carefully check the connectors and wiring on both sides of the module, and then possibly trying another module.

How do you replace dimmer switch on 1999olds 88

Remove airbag fuse. Disconnect battery. Remove two/4 screws (usually Torx-forget the size but rather large maybe T7) from the back side of the steering wheel. Remove airbag assemble . Carefully disconnect the harnesses. Remove the large steering wheel retaining nut. Using a steering wheel puller remove the steering wheel. At this point you may need to remove the shroud from the steering column. Usually t 10 or T15 screws. Remove retaining screws from the multi function switch. Carefully un plug and remove. Installation is reverse. Highly recommend a haynes or Chilton repair manual for this job. Steering wheel puller can be rented from most auto parts chain stores.

Does a 92 Oldsmobile we just replaced the water pump on have to sit after installing for the gasket to seal and dry?

NO--- if the surfaces were clean and dry prior to refitting and a quality sealant was used then when the pump is in then water can be added right away as the sealant is between the surfaces and water cannot get to it to displace it.

1995 ford probe automatic idle control RPM is high

Bad idle control valve is the most likely problem. They carbon up and stop working. Take it off the car and clean it with brake cleaning spray or parts cleaner. Do a good job. Replace and it should be fine. They don;t "wear out," but they do gum up.
