Cheverolet 2500hd truck thermostat stuck closed

I think it's the hot water valve also, at least check it by feeling the hoses that go from the heater to the engine, If hoses are hot, then its ok. it's a sign that hot water is circulating and you should go ahead and drain the coolant and see if it's dirty, or has stop leak, and refill the radiator with fresh coolant, be sure to pour in as slow as you can. be patient now at least you changed your coolant, and no air pockets trapped in the system. go from there. if it's the hot water valve you can look it up on you tube.

Engine almost dies upon starting when cold

Sounds like your automatic choke isn't functioning. If your car is an injection system then off to the garage I'm afraid. However if it is carbs, check that all of the cables are intact and haven't rubbed and split. The auto choke is usually a bi-metalic strip which takes different positions depending on the temp. If one end has come adrift or it has snapped then that would be the issue. Hope this helps

Shifting prroblems 3rd to 4th 2000 silverado 1500 acts like its in neutral sometime when it goes into 4th gear you can turn truck off thenit will shift good for awhile again

There isn't one answer for this topic. The 4L60E transmission isn't a bad trani but if the fluid isn't changed on-time. Debris will accumulate inside the Valve Body and clog/restrict screens and shift solenoids. I think that you will want to first look at the fluid level and condition. Look at the repair/service history (when was the fluid and filter last changed?). If the service has bean done then send it in for repair. There may be one of several things going on inside. The fluid pressure will need to be checked. The pump will need to be tested. The valve-body may need to be dropped down and inspected for obstructions. My last suggestion would be to look at the air filter, fuel system and the exhaust. A clogged air or fuel filter will affect transmission performance. Also a restriction inside the CAT or the Muffler can affect it as well. I hope that helps. If you have more details or questions. Please let me know. Good luck.

2000 Z71 4 wheel low does not enguage. 4 wheel high does. What should I check?

Check the sensors on the transfer case and the transmission both. It's a pretty easy and cheap fix too by the way. Best thing to do is pull a network diagnostics test on the vehicle and it should tell you which sensor is bad.

How to change ashtray light in 2000 silverado

Remove the ashtray. Pull the plastic dash cover loose with a trim tool. Remove the passenger airbag switch (no need to unplug) and adjoining blank plate from thier slots with trim tool. You will see the lamp and cable on the right side. Stick your finger into the top of the empty ashtray slot and push up on the lamp clip to release. Fish the lamp out with a thin screw driver and twist the shade cover off. Pull the bulb straight out. Replace and reverse for installation. RE-clipping the assy into the housing might require removing the accessory frame that holds the airbag switch, but if you have limber fingers you should be able to reconnect.

Display for gear display,odometer,trip odometer

The display is on all the time. You can only dim it with the headlight switch. If the display is blank, you will need a new Instrument Cluster. Some sites on ebay will repair yours cheaper than a new one, and keep your milage the same.

Brake lights not working on my chevy silverado

Check your fuse. If fuse is good check for voltage into the brake light switch and out of the switch when the brake is pressed. You will need a 12v test light to do this.

Driver door on 2000 chevy Silverado hangs down.

There is adjustment in the bolts of the door hinges of the door pillar sections. Und slightly and lift the door to the correct height and re-tension the bolts, However if you can lift the door without loosening the bolts then there is excessive wear in the hinge pins and the only solution is to replace the hinges.
