I have a 2003 Olds

Is the check engine light on? I'm sure changing the oil had nothing to do with how the vehicle is running now unless they didn't replace the oil drain plug or added enough oil.

Why does my car just

There can be any number of reasons why this happens. Do any of your accessories quite when the engine dies? The first thing to check is the positive connections at the battery. If there are two large red cables on the side terminal battery, make sure that the two cables are clean and tight. Some times there will be a dirty connection between the two cables causing a lack of voltage to the computer.

I have a 2003 alero with the v-6 what happened was driving down the road the heater works fine. then all of a sudden it was blowing cold air and the temp gauge started climbing. it started blowing how

Sounds like the water pump is cavitating . Replace water pump. Check coolant level also. Open the bleeder valve usually located on thermostat housing to remove air from system. close valve when coolant is present while filling. close radiator cap and top off recovery bottle to correct level. These engines are prone to overheating, do not let temp gauge get in the red.

2003 alero dash light won't shut off

Sounds like either a bad ignition switch or a back feeding circuit. Try unplugging the ignition switch to see if the lights go out. If they do, replace the switch. If they don't, post to tell me.

Is their one or two crank sensors on a 2003 olds alero

What engine does yours have ? 2.2L 4 cyl. or 3.4 L V-6 If you have 3.4 L it has two A an B • Crankshaft position (CKP) sensors The CKP sensor B is a variable reluctance sensor. The magnetic field of the sensor is altered by a crankshaft mounted reluctor wheel that has seven machined slots, six of which are equally spaced 60 degrees apart. The seventh slot is spaced 10 degrees after one of the 60 degree slots. This sensor provides the ignition control module (ICM) with 7X signals, or seven pulses for each revolution of the crankshaft. The pulse from the 10 degree slot is known as the sync pulse. Both of the sensor circuits are connected to the ignition control module (ICM). A signal converter within the ICM produces digital 3X output pulse to the powertrain control module (PCM), the 3X reference is known as the low resolution engine speed signal. The CKP sensor A contains a hall-effect switch. A hall-effect switch is a solid state switching device that produces a digital ON/OFF pulse when a rotating element passes between the sensor tip and a magnet. This rotating element is called an interrupter ring or blade. In this case the interrupter ring has 24 evenly spaced blades and windows and is part of the crankshaft damper assembly. This sensor provides the PCM with 24X signals, or 24 identical pulses per crankshaft revolution. The 24X signal is used for enhanced smoothness and idle stability at a lower calibrated RPM. The PCM supplies the sensor with a 12-volt reference, low reference, and signal circuit.

My speedometer works but my digital odometer does not work on my 2003 old alero

This is one guy's advice: Replace the speedo head, that should take care of the problem." This site is also interesting because the guy said General Motors cars had instrument cluster problems from 2003 through 2006. When I researched instrument cluster problems on the Internet what I found raised concerns in me. Many of those vehicles had problems that began with the instrument cluster, but eventually led to the engine refusing to start. (an electronic instrument cluster, digital instrument panel or digital dash for short, is a set of instrumentation, including the speedometer, that is displayed with a digital readout rather than with the traditional analog gauges. Many refer to it simply as a digital speedometer.) http://www.instructables.com/id/Erratic-Instrument-Panel-on-GM-Cars/

How do I troubleshoot the cruise control of a 2003 Alero?

It's probably a problem with cruise control module , located under the hood in engine compartment . Or a bad connection somewhere . Do you know how to do electrical testing ? Is the air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ? Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's stored . DTC P1554 The powertrain control module (PCM) inhibits cruise control operation when certain conditions are not appropriate for cruise control operation. The PCM removes the ground from the cruise control inhibit signal circuit in order to disengage cruise control operation. DTC P1585 Output driver modules (ODMs) are used by the powertrain control module (PCM) in order to turn on many of the current driven devices that are needed to control various engine and transaxle functions. DTC P1558 set indicates that an improper voltage level has been detected on the signal circuit which controls the cruise control inhibit circuit. Action Taken When the DTC Sets • The PCM will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). • The PCM will store the conditions present when the DTC set as Failure Records data only. Cruise control is a speed control system that maintains a desired vehicle speed under normal driving conditions. However, steep grades may cause variations in the selected speeds. The electronic cruise control system has the capability to CRUISE, COAST, RESUME SPEED, ACCELERATE, and TAP-UP or TAP-DOWN. The main parts of the cruise control system are: • The cruise control module assembly • The function control switches • The cruise control release switch • The clutch pedal position switch (CPP), if equipped • The stop lamp switch assembly • The vehicle speed sensor The cruise control system uses the cruise control module assembly to maintain the desired vehicle cruise speed and operation. The cruise control module assembly has an electronic controller and an electric stepper motor to vary the throttle in each different cruise control mode. The electric controller monitors vehicle speed and operates the electric stepper motor. The stepper motor operates in response to the electronic controller, to maintain the desired cruise speed. The electric stepper motor moves a strap that is attached to the cruise control cable which moves the throttle linkage. The cruise control module assembly contains a low speed limit which will prevent system engagement below a minimum speed of 40 km/h (25 mph). The module assembly is not serviceable.
