all 4 windows have no power
Posted by josh614 on
Under the dash next to the steering columb there is a control module for the power windows. this has a series of relays inside. Toggle the switch on one of the doors with the power on and you should hear a clicking noise coming from the box. If no noise, check relays and fuses under the hood near battery before replacing the control module.

Open the boot, Undo the 2 big screws... then go inside the boot, open the patch on the side... take out the connector... you should also see a white plastic cylinder... unscrew that... then you should be able to take the whole light out.. once you have... undo the 2 screws where the light bulb is.. and bobs ya uncle. :) by Fiz.

I can't find instructions on how to change the license plate light bulb.
Posted by hsmor on
OK>>> it is very cold here, but nonetheless..I went outside to check on my Oldsmobile for your benefit....On mine (I can't guarantee it is the same for all of the vehicles listed above). If you are looking at the license plate, LOOK UP and you should see the bulb and whatever encasing is there. Mine is in a tube and it is attached with (2) mini bolts that will need to come out first, then it just looks like a simple matter of disconnecting the electrical plug, taking out the old bulb and putting the new one in. I hope this helps someone....

1997 olds cutlass supreme The security light is flashing and the car won't start with the ignition. I jumped the starter and the starter is good,I also tried a different key, still nothing, Please Help?

Open ,and shut the doors, and the hood, and the trunk, then set the anti-theft,leave it set for 5 minutes, then disarm the anti-theft,and then try and start the vehicle.

It's when the security light starts flashing that the infamous "chip" in the key becomes a nightmare to many. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
1st trick, Try a spare key that is newer or used less. The pins wear down and so do the keys causing security fail. 2nd trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shutting down while running, im sorry i have no quick fix... If anything on this page helps you, please remember to comment or give me a thumbs up on the myfixya sight so i can have a better rating to help more people on this. Thanks
Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.
Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks. If you do buy this, please purchase it thru this link. The cost is the same, but i get credit for the sale and im trying to earn my money back, as you will be able to do if you buy fron NewRockies and join the free affiliate program. Thanks
----- http://newrockies.ca?ap_id=judd0081 ----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites.
It works for:
Any GM or Isuzu Vehicle with VATS or PASSKey or PASSLock security systems.
If your car has the chip in the key or in the lock cylinder, then you can save it with this Full Bypass.

The engine gets hot very fast and the HOT light comes on. The heater does not work. The engine has lost pressure and is running rough. What do I do?
Posted by tim... on
This is serious, as it sounds like your engine coolant is not circulating and you may already have a damaged head gasket. It's probably not a bad thermostat, because that wouldn't kill the heater. Here are some things to check, ranked from least to most serious:
1. Check for low coolant level and add if needed. Check for leaks.
2. Check for kinked radiator hoses.
3. Check for airlock. Remove bleed screw from thermostat housing. Crank engine. When no air or bubbles come out with the coolant, put the bleed screw back in. Be sure and clean up any spilled coolant so your pets can't drink it.
4. Check for bad water pump and/or deteriorated belt.
5. Check for bad head gasket, possibly damaged by overheating.
I hope this helps!

I changed my battery in my 97 Olds Cutlass Supreme and need the radio unlock code, as it locked it up when I put in a new battery.
Posted by jgarnersal... on
if you bought the car new then there should be writen in the manual the code for the theft lock system on the radio. if pre-owned then it might ,might not be in there. or if you dont have one at all. go to your nearest GM dealer and have them fix it by finding the code. make sure to have them write it down for you incase this happens again.

i am unable to find where the fuse goes to replace because my horn does not work
Posted by Lucy W... on
1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme fuse box location. Open the glove box, then the flap for the deep storage pocket. There should be a couple of holes there. Put your fingers in the finger holes and pull up. The glove box lifts up and out, and there should be the fuse box. There also should be some fuses under the hood. Open the hood, and on the left hand (passenger) side should be a flap between the fender and the engine. Open the flap (it comes all the way off) and there are some other fuses, mostly A/C and electrical fuses, I believe. I know it's a 1991 & you wanted a 1997, but i think it should be similer, give it a try.
