Does the check engine light come on, any codes stored in the engine computer? Voltage drop testing electrical circuits - battery cables , battery connections, checking power and ground circuits for the ECM/PCM - engine computer . You might try cleaning the MAF sensor - (mass air flow sensor), clean throttle plate, IAC - (idle air control valve). After driving 5 minutes and then it dies does it start right back up and drive ?

It was because it was for a Cutlass Supreme as I stated. $6 on eBay, no free ones.

what was code --and was sensor bad --was the circuit- harness -connector checked and tested --new sensor tested [new doesnt mean free from defects]-- after starter replaced was wiring rechecked --area were working checked for possible damaged or unconnected components--hook up scanned and check for new codes

Run it through the rack from Park to Low 1 and back. If it doesn't release after that you need a good auto-electrician. Also sounds like you have a faulty ignition switch.

Foot on the brake and rack through the gear selector a few times back to park. That should release the key. Then with a can of WD40 with the red tube, squirt it into the key slot until it bubbles out.

First thing to do is have the battery tested and verify the battery cables are clean and free from corrosion. If battery tests ok check the fuel pressure. Autozone auto parts stores and others test batteries for free.

Never heard of a parking brake automatically engaging. It does suffer with sticking brake cables. Are you sure the driver didn't step on the parking brake pedal? It is what I would have done and I have practiced it a number of times! You press the pedal a second time to release it. There is an inherit problem with these years of GM vehicles and their VATSS key system. There is a pair of small wires that run from the chip reader in the lock tumbler down the column and connect at the base of the column to the main harness. The wires break at the top by the lock tumbler. You have a couple of options on how to fix it, you can either bypass the VATSS system or you can replace the lock cylinder.

There should be either two bolts at the bottom of the padded part that go through either a tab flush with the metal floor or the metal that face the trunk. sometimes after you remove these bolts you have to press in firmly either close to the top or middle of the padding and lift towards the roof at the same time . I used to put my shoulder against it and lift at the same time and it would come out . They can be stubborn by times so be sure to apply lots of lift and push at the same time .. That is the way I got the last one out but things change fast and I could be wrong . No harm in trying . Some times the bolts at the bottom are covered by mat or a sealing paper so have a good look first . If it has a split seat that's likely not the way it comes out . Some times you can find the fasteners by sliding your hands around the outer edges too . Hope that helps .

There are two possible scenarios. The fuel pump is in the fuel tank and is lubricated and cooled by the gasoline in the tank. How the pump fares depends on how long the pump was running dry. or The fuel hasn't reached the engine. Check for fuel at the fuel rail in the engine. Check the fuel pressure with a test gauge.

You will have 2 separate plugs, one is for the power, ground, lights, and accessory and the other is the speaker outs.

If you were smelling fuel, then the engine was running rich. One possibility is that the spark plugs are fuel fouled. First check to see if the ignition system is still working by checking to see if there is a spark going to the plug. Then check to see what the fuel pressure is.
