Car died on road and would crank but acts as if it

In that case you must check first the fuse and the relay, located in the fuse box, itself on drivers side fender well. If they are ok then either the pump is faulty (you must take it out to test it) or the ECM has detected a fault  and you must read its codes to find what fault.

Car chugs and jerks like crazy while cruising

Determine whether the jerking is engine or transmission related. One way to determine if it is the transmission lock up converter is acting erratically is to down shift out of OD. And see if jerking persist. If it goes away suspect transmission to have problems with torque converter or TCC solenoid . If it doesn't go away determine whether or not the engine sounds to be misfiring. If so vehicle may require a tune up. Many vehicles can be diagnosed for free at your local Auto Zone.

Power steering fluid is checked with a cap with a rod that tells you how low the level is when hot.

The power steering pump has a pulley on it, and is near the alternator.

The engine coolant has a leak.

Hi my name is Tom and I am here to help. I am going to take a stab at your problem and guess that by a leak you mean that coolant is coming out of a spot near the engine. If this is the case the coolant will never get in the engine.

The coolant is a separate system from the oil that lubricates the engine. The only way coolant can get into the engine is if the head gasket is leaking. A quick fix is to add a "stop leak" that you can purchase at any auto parts store.

The powdered(aluminum)works the best. It simply plugs the leak from the inside. You will need to run the car for 30 minutes or until the leak stops. I have been successful with this in each case of a small leak. The only problem is if you do not seal well enough the aluminum will back flow and reopen the leak. I think it is worth a try. If I can answer and question feel free to email me.

The car wont come out of park

The problem is with the shift interlock switch...the device which prevents the transmission from being shifted out of park without the brake pedal pressed. The switch is usually located somewhere under dash near steering column on column shift models and under the console on floor shift models. Have it replaced.

1995 olds royale ls cruise not working

There is a gray colored wire on the back of the pivot pulse dimmer switch assembly that is most likely the culprit. Not the multi function turn signal/wiper/cruise lever, its the wires that go through the column down to the plug just under the dash at the column. You may be able to see these wires using a flashlight looking into the opening behind the turn signal lever pulling the lever like your dimming the lights may help to see this. The wire may be just hanging there. Very common failure due to the fact that these wires move every time you dim your headlamps. You will have to replace the "Pivot pulse dimmer switch assembly". in the steering column. This switch assembly is attached directly to the turn signal switch. Disabling the air bags and removing the steering wheel will be required. If you decide to do this yourself, I would strongly suggest getting a good service manual and following the procedure to the letter.

Same problem ..hopefully some expert will answer

some cruise controll systems use the center high mount stop lighy [third brake light] as an input for the cruise control if its not working the cruise wont either. all fault diagnosis would conclude that if everything checks ok then the computer is at fault. but i would dought all checks ok. a skilled mechanic should be able to diagnose the problem in 1.5 hours and that is a generous time alotment.10 hours is extreme. so mabee a second diagnosis should be performed

Courtesy lights

You can try to obtain from general auto parts store, such as O'Reilly's, but most likely that item will be either dealer item only, or used one at a salvage yard.

If you find this solution helpful, then please take a moment to rate it. - Thanks.

Had a fuel leak and fixed it on my 95 olds 88. now

replace fuel filter
replace air filter

If this does not help,

check to make sure the fuel filter (if previously removed) was hooked up correctly (should have an arrow with the word "flow" which should point toward the front of the car). If this is not the issue (nore the filters) check the MAS (mass airflow sensor).

Before replacing, if you can get the car to idle for at least 30 seconds (use two people) tap on the MAS with a screwdriver handle. If the car dies, sputter worse or the idle fluctuates, it may just need cleaned, but most likely needs replaced.

Do this first before replacing: buy a can of MAS cleaner at your local auto parts store - pull MAS off completely and spray inside (cone area) generously. Let sit and air dry for 15 minutes. Put back together and try starting.

If it still does not start and idle, agian, before replacing this part next check (if equipped) the distributor cap and rotor. Make sure they are not warn (inside of cap the metal points should not be warn {grooved}. If so, replace both. Also check that the coil wire is in good repair as well.

Just out of curiosity, where was the leak at to begin with?
