Change my timing belt valves got bent shop said was carbon

nO! dont get scammed they messed up and had the timing off and it fired your valves off at the wrong time and bent them dont take it to anyone else ...take it to the manufactures and let them know what happened and i would get in touch with the BBB.... see your timing belt turns your camshaft which turns your pistons up and down now if you timing is off your piston will go up at the wrong time and force all that combustion back at your valves which are made up of light metal and then they bend .....call the garage you went to and let them know that it was there fault and you want it fixed ......this really makes me mad being an mechanic myself. I hope this helps you a little.

Driving to work - v6 auto galant 1997 lost all

Torque converter has a splined hole that has stripped on the splined axle shaft coming out of the transmission. Because of this the power is not being transferred from engine to the transmission. You may be able to replace just the torque converter ( under $200 ) to repair the car if the splined axle shaft on the transmission is not stripped or broken. If the actual transmission is damaged the repair cost could go up astronomically.

My car wont start unless

Hi, odds are your solenoid has shorted out. Remove the starter and have it tested at your local parts chain. To remove the starter, first remove the negative terminal from the battery, then remove the wires from the solenoid. Then remove the 2 starter bolts--they thread in from the transmission side. See the pics below, and let me know if you have any questions.

What is a fair price

Depends on how how much the cost of the pump is, whether its new or rebuilt and the hourly rate of the shop. Some shops work at $60 per hour where others are at $100. You are looking at anywhere from $300 to $500.
