I would say that you have a tire out of whack. Look for any weirdness in your treads, Probably a broken tread belt.

you may have a bad ground, or a short in one of the wires. pull out the stereo.

in my automotive experience-the asembley is what i call a sandwich affect -so if the water pump is behind the the belt more likely yes-peel away the layers- the water pump bolts to the block right -expose the part to be replaced if the timing belt is behind the pump and does not run the pump id say leave it be but if your vehicle needs a belt and your right there you may wish to do that too :-)

The dist is usually connected to the camshaft by a gear.

Year, make and model there, please.

It doesn't show one in the 2.0 or 2.6

Might be your overdrive switch/solenoid
