My son had the same problem in a Pontiac. He said to rock the steering wheel back and forth while, at the same time, trying to turn the key in either direction. This would free his up every time. Sometimes, the anti theft wheel lock behind the steering wheel will bind and prevent the ignition lock cylinder from moving fully back in the locking position releasing the key. If you rock the wheel back and forth, this should work the mechanism loose. Good luck.

I don't know what you have for test equipment but load test the battery first. If the battery is 5 years or older it may be time. If you have a test light and multimeter (With amp measurements). Test to see which fuses still have power with the key out of the ignition. Then load test each fuse to see which one has a high draw on it. I don't know what the failure is. Only through diagnostics can you narrow your search and pin point the affected circuit. Any questions please write back. Good Luck.
