try diconnect the positive terminal for about 30 mins or less for the computer reset it self if that don't work try cleaning the throttle body sensor with caborator cleaner below intake hole do this make the positive terminal is off, then put everything back together and go for a drive see what happen that had worked for good luck!!!.

This is a hard question. When was the last time you did a tune up?Dirty oil? clogged air or fuel filter?a 1.6L engine isn't the fastest thing on 4 wheels. Did you have a full tank of gas, trunk loaded with heavy stuff. Other people with you? Your Max power band and max torque band is right around 4000 rpms. Don't try to pass when your at 2500 rpms because 4 cylinders have no power in lower rpm ranges and don't go into the red area either.Where you in overdrive? Headwind?Possible the other driver had a faster car?
