What is an immobiliser

  1. An immobiliser or immobilizer is an electronic security device fitted to an automobile that prevents the engine from running unless the correct key (or other token) is present. This prevents the car from being "hot wired" after entry has been achieved and helping to reducing motor vehicle theft.

I have a 2005 Mits Lancer. Gas release will not pop open the gas cover. I have to use flashlight to keep in open position, then get out of car to manually open cover. How can I fix this?

The answer is to replace the cable that flips the cover. What's most likely happened is that the cable has rusted in the lever mechanism under the carpet. This happens because of water getting in through the floor. Remove the drivers seat. When the carpet is up, look for rusted out metal plugs (about 30 mm in diameter) in the floor. Replace and fix any rust or leaks. Replacing the cable can be tedious, usually requires removing the trim in the trunk, and often taking out the back seats to get access. A garage would charge 2-3 hours of labour to do this job.

How to adjust the head light in lancer 2005

There are usually some adjustment/aligning bolts on the back of the headlight. You will have to park your car perpendicularly to a wall about 25 feet away from the car. Then you will adjust and align the bolts on the back. You will have to open the hood as the alignment bolts are on the back of the headlight which is accessible from the engine compartment side. There are usually 3 alignment bolts per headlight. You may have to chalk up a pattern on the wall when you do this. Have just replaced plugs and leads and the engine light keeps coming on for 1 to 3 mins and when its warm and i go to start it again the engine light comes on and runs a little rough what could this b

It must be from the rough idling. Check the spark plug gaps and the lead wires if they have good continuity. Check your car manual for the proper gap for the spark plugs. Set it with the use of a spark plug gauge.

Will the throttle control sensor being faulty cause the car to run rough?

This sensor basically sends info to the car's computer so when it is faulty it means you won't know the position of your car's throttle, the fuel, or engine's performance so you have to get it fixed because it sometimes gets rusty and thus needs to be cleaned up.
