How to start
the short answer is no. with a wiring diagram and the right tools you may be able to bypass the PATS system but it involves the engine computer. there are aftermarket devices that are supposed to bypass the system for remote start, but you still need a key with the right chip.
How do I fix a code P0171 (too lean)?
code p0171 refers to system too lean bank1===causes intake/exhaust leak-AIR system--MAF/VAF sensors---fuel pressure/pump/regulator---injectors---HO2S. To understand the fuel mixture there is a direct ratio between the air and the fuel and it is 14:1 air to fuel . Anything either side is too rich or too lean. manifold leaks/vacuum hose leaks--Mas air flow sensor, Volume air flow sensor all tell the CPU what the ratio is so any unit not performing will throw out the ratio. If the fuel pressure is too low or high the injectors do not squirt properly at the rpm required
Overheating
Most common reason for overheating is 1. low coolent lvl 2. faulty thermostat (stuck closed). 3. Faulty water pump preventing coolent from circulating through engine.
Check coolent lvl in radiator when engine is cool by removing the cap and filling it up till you can see the coolent, replace cap and try. If you have the proper lvl of coolent. Replace your thermostat, which is located under the thermostat housing (right underneith where your top radiator hose connects). Fill with coolent and see if that helps. Next test is to start the car and let it run till it gets to normal operating temp or near (180 to 220 degrees F) Pinch your upper radiator hose and see if you can feel a gush, or flow of water rush through the hose when you release your pinch hold on the hose, (by pinch, I mean to try and totally squeeze the hose together) If you don't feel the rush of coolent through the hose, then your waterpump is faulty. If your car quits overheating, but your heater hoses don't get hot, then they are probably stopped up at the point where they connect to the engine. Its a common area for gunk, rust, and corrosion to build up.
My headlights are not very bright
If you have those lenses that get the yellow film over them then I would see about having them fixed and replace with quality bulbs. The bulbs could be getting weak and about ready to blow. They make a solution to apply to those lenses that yellow and from what I understand works pretty well.

Security light is on my dashboard
The security icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.
