Cannot locate transmission filter or instructions to replace

My son was going to replace the transmission filter/fluid for me. The filter they sold him is similar in looks to an oil filter and he cannot find where the old one is. What type of filter does this vehicle require and what is the procedure to change it? My son is a very good mechanic but this one stumped him.

ok, here's the deal. there are 2 types of transmissions one with an external oil filter( kinda looks like the oil filter for the engine) and then there is the other type of transmission that was produced later on the 4 cylinder engines that doesnt have a removable filter. it does have a screen that is not servicable, it can only be replaced during the rebuild of the transmission. this design is supposed to be "back flushed" to remove all debris. Most good transmission shops have this type of system that pressureizes the system and does this.

If your gonna do this on your own, what you will need to do is buy 4-5 quarts of transmission fluid, drain the oil from the pan on the front of the engine, reinstall it, add the fluid, drive for 30 min, and then repeat the process.

Replacing speakers in Mitsubishi Galant

Hi.
I want to replace the original speakers in my Mitsubishi Galant, and my problem is that I don´t know how to remove the lower panel on the doors?
Can I remove the lower panel without taking off the panel above?
Are the many screws/clips that´s holding it in place?
And do you remove the panels on both the front & back doors in the same way?

If the car is an 03 galant it is very simple to remove.
DRIVER SIDE:
Remove the window crank if it is not Electric Window.
Remove the Screw that holds the "Open Door Handle" cover.
Remove the Screw that holds the "Pull Handle Pocket"
Remove both plastic covers.
Remove all 3 hidden crews that have a plastic cover over them.
One is toward the front of the door top and the other two are toward the rear of the door top and bottom side.
Carefully pry around the door trim panel to disengage it from th retaining clips, along the sides and bottom. If you have electric windows, disconnect the if from the door trim to access the speaker. Same procedure for both doors.

Spinning My Wheels!! ---- P0421 Code Mitsubishi Galant

My car is a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant 4cylinder. The service engine light came on with the P0421 code in June 2006, I was told it was the front O2 sensor. I finally replaced the front O2 sensor with one from Autozone in January 2008 and the light is still on? Also my car is driving as if it is getting worse, iut seems to lag a little, as if it has to work harder to gain momentum. I have heard SO many things now, I don't know if its just that: A) I should have replaced it with a mitsubishi O2 sensor? or B) I replaced the WRONG O2 sensor all together and should have replaced the other one. Please help, I'm afraid I may be in danger of having messed up my catalytic converter.

ALSO, my cylinders keep misfiring, I have replaced teh coil pack for both cylinder 2 and 4 in the past two months, I had to replace the cylinder 2 twice, supposedly my Autozone part may have been faulty so they exchanged it for free. I had my spark plugs and cylinders checked and supposedly there are no leaks, Could ALL of this be related to the problem above?

I have the same vehicle, same code P0421, changed the BOTH O2 sensors and the check engine light was still on, took it to my fathers garage and checked the Catalytic Converter, and it was ok later I found out that P0421 means that the vehicle doesn't have the proper mixture of gas and air (running richer) so I changed the MAX air flow sensor and wala the code went away.

2003 MITSUBISHI GALANT HOW TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB

2003 MITSUBISHI GALANT HOW TO REMOVE & REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB

Posted by on

Answer

  • Most Helpful of 2 Answers

First you disconnect the 3 prong electric plug. To disconnect squeeze the side tabs together (hard) and pull away from the bulb, then you can pull off the protective rubber covering, (its a little snug so give it a tug from the 2 tabs on the top and bottom).

Next unscrew the little Phillips head screw to loosen the bracket that clips in the bulb (take note of how the clip is installed before you remove it, it holds the bulb securely in place).
Just loosen the screw as you do not need to remove it all the way. Pull out the old bulb and replace it with the new one.

The bulb has 3 spacing tabs on it so it can only go in one way. Make note of this when you remove it so you may replace it the same way. follow the steps in reverse and your done.
Note: The little wire clip that holds the bulb in can be a pain. Make sure you get a really good look at it, since it pops out as soon as you loosen the screw. If you get lost, you can always look at the other headlight. Oh, and don't do this in the dark.

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat

(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity2_bing.gif problem.

I DO NOT disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s)

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.
