Or remove other parts. I worked on a chevy blazer and had to remove the exhaust or take the starter apart in the hole. I took the starter apart saved me hours of work. Putting it together was a little tricky but not hard. I have even had to pull the radiator fan on some cars to get more room. Good luck. Try to remove less as possible

What does the smoke smell like? If it smells like antifreeze, the heater core is most likely leaking. You would soon be running out of coolant in the radiator. probably find that it is not antifreeze( check your radiator and reservoir to be sure)but the moisture collected during the ac operation it drains out of the bottom of the ac box down a hose out under the car
