Probably one of the lock switches, the switch you push or toggle from inside the car to lock or unlock your doors has shorted. Try manipulating those switches until the clicking stops. Replace the effected switch. If the doors automatically lock when the car begins moving above a certain speed, it could be that relay has shorted.

Have it hooked up to a factory scanner ,one that can read data in all the modules on the vehicle, not just the engine computer . When your not sure you take it to a professional .

Assuming your 1992 has the 2L DOHC 4G63, I'd suspect the spark coil under the intake manifold, RHS as you view the engine (== car LHS).. If you have the 1.8L 4G32, I think it has a coil assembly inside the distributor, under the rotor. These often fail as you describe. The coil is a replaceable part.

Check for any codes that may be present in the ECU. Hesitation can be caused by many different systems in the car. Check resistance on MAF, CPS, clean throttle body, remove slack from throttle body cable, check resistance on TPS.
