Make sure it's all the way in "park", and try wiggling the steering wheel while you turn the key. Pretty new car to have problems like that.

Hi, have you tried changing the oil filter? Or check the selector where it goes directly into the box, otherwise the selector inside the "brain" of the gearbox is knackered. Unfortunately the only way to fix it is virtually a full rebuild but I'd definitely check the filter first. Regards, Neil

It's probably nothing worse than a strained or broken shift linkage It'll need to go into the shop, but if it is just the linkage, it wont be to expensive. HOT TIP: Get better security on your car to stop it happening again. It'll be cheaper than fixing the damage

Building on Mr Hooper's answer ... if you have managed to short something out as part of the ignition switch it could be one of the RELAYs in the engine compartment....box is near the passenger side firewall. I would evaluate the "STRTR" relay which is one of the larger ones in the box on the upper right hand corner.
Sometimes if there are 2 identical relays in a box you just switch them to see if that changes anything, but for this Impala it does not look like there is a twin relay to play with.
If you are handy with a multimeter you can check the relay ... watch video for some pointers to do that ... even if you do not have the internal wiring of the relay
Good luck on your troubleshooting.
None of the handful of fuses in the passenger compartment (shotgun side down by the kick plate) look like they have anything to do with the ignition/starting circuit.

You would need your diagram that shows your fuse locations and values- replacing a fuse that is not blown can not hurt at all so just replace them both with the same values, if you are unsure putting a smaller size will not hurt, if its too small it will simply blow and when you replace it you know to go higher, you can also call chevy and ask they can give you the values or check the owners manual
good luck

you are going to have make and model ## of the car stereo, if GM
still go to have model ## off the back of stereo and what would be better is a part number would be very good.

I would say that the factory amplifier is not functioning. All sounds go through the radio, including the chimes.

sounds like the only thing left is the valve lash. If the intake gasket was bad, it would most likely cause a vacuum leak and effect the overall performance of the engine. You may also notice some oil consumption as well. Also, verify the firing order is correct.

Engine power reduced problem is the main culprit ! This has to do with the electronic throttle control system . Computer controlled throttle control . The Gas pedal assembly has position sensors as does the throttle body . These are inputs to the PCM/ECM - engine computer . By the signal from the gas pedal the PCM / ECM will control a DC electric motor on the throttle body ,opening an closing the throttle plate .When there is a problem with this system the check engine light comes on and the PCM/ECM will disable traction control an that light will be turned on etc..... These problems can be very tough to find . How much are you willing to spend to track down this problem . Need special tool's to find these problems . Electrical test scope (lab scope ) . Over time these parts wear an the PCM will see conflicting signals . Sometimes the part needs to wear out to find the problem . Have the repair shop keep the vehicle till they find the problem .
