I have the same car and year, same thing happened to me this morning. My car said "engine reduce power" and then "engine power off". My car also right afterwards said to "check charge system". That's the alternator, the wires on the front of it had come loose. I plugged it back in and the car started right back up. It's been running fine since. I've had a problem with the alternator before and it shut my car down then too. I'd start with the alternator and go from there.
How to remove 2008 HHR ECM?
Hello. I think your vehicle's ECM is under the hood by one of the front wheels; in a plastic 'cabinet'. Be sure to disconnect the battery before you remove/replace that ECM. Open the 'cabinet' and carefully remove the electrical plugs. They are, usually, color coded to go into the same 'colored port'. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.
My 2008 chevt hhr is having intermittent starting problems. The Passcode 3 system is in the car. The anti theft light came on 3 weeks ago then shut off.
DUring those periods when it doesn't start, does the security light flash? If so, there's a trouble code stored. Also, GM has issued a service bulletin advising you to remove all other electronic devices from the vehicle before starting anti-theft diagnosis. That means removing phone charges, dash cams, even extra transpoder keys from your key ring.
Also, BTW, thanks for not telling us the year, make, model. we know it's a national security secret, but it help technicians to know what vehicle you're asking about.
When I left ck my 2008 HHR my rear hatch doesn't lock.us it the fuse?
Could be ,could also be the L/GATE RELSE relay #18 located in the under hood fuse / relay box . Does your vehicle have a sunroof .? Fuse # 10 20 amp LIFT/GATE / S ROOF
Could be a BCM - body control module problem , or lock actuator it self . If the fuse an relay are good , doing some electrical testing would need to be done . Plus hooking a scan tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's in the BCM .
2008 HHR at 30 MPH the temp meter reads in red area, 45 mph reads normal?
Check the electric radiator fan, if vehicle heats up at low speed then it sounds like the fan is not working! at high speed the air going through the radiator cools the engine. Check the fan out! God-Bless! Hope this helps you. or check to see if you have a bad fuse for the fan or relay is bad and will not turn on fan.
