How to replace cv boot

Please replace the whole axle shaft, with both CV joints and boots and stub axle, as a unit. You CANNOT make those CV joints clean enough to be reliable. The complete unit is surprisingly inexpensive.

What does it mean when my service traction control message comes on?

It Usually Means that There is a problem with one of your front Hub sensors which are built in to the Hub. First try unplugging the Hub Sensor connectors, wiping them clean with a rag and Q tips and then adding dielectric grease to them. Other wise figure out which hub is bad and replace it. Listen for noises coming from wheels is easiest method and usually works.

Have 2000 malibu that idles to fast

Fast idle is often caused by a faulty TPS. Throttle Position Sensor. The computer is not able to determine exactly where the throttle is so it compensates by applying too much throttle automatically to avoid stalling the engine. Just went through this with a delivery truck at work that would run at 40 without touching the gas. Scary ride in a 2 ton truck.

How do I fix a leak on the passenger side when it rains

It really helps if you are specific about where it's leaking. If it's in the windshield, your best bet is have one of the outfits that replaces windshields mobile, come by and pull the windshield and then reglue it. What often happens is if you have like a flat, your car will be jacked up just to lift that one tire. Cars are all unibody now and it can flex the body and cause the glue that's holding the windshield in place to pop loose. I had that happen. No amount of goop you put on the outside is going to seal it again, I know from personal experience. There's too much trim in the way on the outside and inside. If you like the car and want to keep it, seal that soon or the interior will be trashed in no time.

How do i reset the idle on a 2.4 the idle is to high

That is usually controlled by the computer. It should be electronic fuel injection, not a carburetor. If the idle is high then you may have a vacuum leak. Last time I had a high idle it was because I Unplugged the vacuum line from my brake booster. Plugged it back in and presto, normal idle.

Shifter lights out

There is an open recall for the shifter not showing in the correct position which the dealer has to do free of charge to you. While they are in there, they can replace the bulb. If you have already had the recall performed, then I would just replace the light bulb in the shifter. I hope this helps.
