Problem wtih starting car
I had the same issue. It turned out that the break pedal switch was broken. The engine start push button is connected to a second break pedal switch that senses when you push it. That switch is independent from your main break pedal switch that turns on the brake lights of the car.
New serpentine belt is squalling.
there is a self adjuster for a serpentine belt. the sqaulling you hear is most likely either you have a bearing failing on the idler pulley or the adjuster no longer is keeping tension on the belt . i would check those items closely and replace them if need be
Engine smoke&sludge
Smoking & sludge ...OK, first, smoking on startup generally is the result of worn valve guides or valve stem seals. Excessive sludge in the engine can worsen this condition as sludge buildup can block oil from draining back to the pan, instead remaining inside the valve cover where it can run down the valve guides overnight.
If you just got the car and want to get rid of some sludge, change your oil every 2000 miles for a few months. Use a good quality oil and add a pint of marvel oil to it each time. On an engine with substantial sludge, I don't advise using any flush products. They work too fast and end up jamming residue into the oil screen, preventing proper oil flow to the pump. It took a long time for the sludge to form, don;t expect anything will remove it immediately short of a complete teardown & rebuild. If that's the only problem you have just follow what I said and you will be OK.
No coolant loss, overheat or anything? Did sludge suddenly appear or as I thought, it just built up over time?
Ticking noise when starting car.
Check your oil level. It sounds like automatic lifter or tappets are draining and have to be pumped back up. 2007 is fairly new but if you don't change your oil often this will happen.
588.00 sounds ok for the brake work if they replaced the front rotors, rebuilt the front calipers and resurfaced the rear rotors.
2007 Altima door locks
Your car may not have the option, I would call the Nissan factory help line, it is listed in the owners manual.
Condensation in light housing
Lance,
You won't be able to get the condensation out of the lamps. The light assemblies are sealed and only have a small hole where ther bulbs go in as well as a small vent. The condensation is normal and will come and go. Even if you put a new light assmebly on the car you could still get the condensation. Go to the dealer for the brake pedal pad.
Driver's Seat Removal
There are four bolts holding the seat to the floor. Slide the seat all the way forward and you will be able to see the two bolts which are at the rear of the seat slide rail. They are 14mm bolts, remove them. Slide the seat all the way back and remove the two bolts at the front of the rail. Once the bolts are out removed tilt the seat towards the back, it should lift the seat bottom easily and you can find your flash drive. Be careful not to push the seat too far back as there may be a wiring harness to damage. Once you retrieve the flash drive, put the seat back down and put the bolts back in.
Poor gas mileage on 07 altima

Unusual ping noise
I have heard the same thing in my '07 Altima 2.5 S. I asked a mechanic @ the local dealer, and he said he doesn't know what it is and couldn't get the car to make the noise when he drove it.
