Sounds like the fuses didn't give in time, or an internal fuse blew inside the radio. Although fuses rarely make a poping sound, usually more a condensator (also called a capacitor, or cap for short), or a burnt IC chip. You will need to take the radio out of the dash and open it up to inspect the electronics inside, see if any condensators have a popped top with fluid leaking or similar, and check for burn spots on the IC chips. Also, you might want to check the resistors just in case the pop came from one of those but they usually burn out slow so they don't go pop. If you do not feel comfortable taking the radio unit apart, then best bet is to replace the unit itself with a new/aftermarket one. Hope this helps.
